Tue Jan 25 18:36:12 sony handycam reinsert cassette error PST 2005 this prob alwas appear what does it mean C:31:23 and my cam is trv250 ...help please !!! jackson Wed Jan 26 13:38:12 PST 2005 Sony is pretty secretive about the :23 code. It can't be found c:31:40 anywhere. However, to service the C:31 code, Sony recommends you do the following:Turn off the camcorder.Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.Turn on the camcorder. If the error message appears, service may be required. If your camcorder still shows the same error code, then you'll have to send in your camcorder for service. message on my TRV16e. It only happened on one tape (mostly) and there was no way this tape would play. Played Ok in another machine though. I get paranoid now every time I put a tape in waiting for the beep beep noise. Pete Sun, 19 Jun 2005 15:13:40 -0700 I don't know what the heck it is but is seems to come up when I don't use it for a while then I try to go immedeatly to the VCR function. Then I can't use it at all. I have never had the code when I pick it up and go directly to record mode??? I dunno. I also have the trc250 Ryan Wed, 10 Aug 2005 12:40:06 -0700 This may seem silly, but it worked for me. I found this on another discussion forum. Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times. Surprisingly it worked for me.. Debbie Sat, 13 Aug 2005 11:38:25 -0700 I just turned the camcorder on its side and hit rewind. It seemed to go away.Maybe the gears are getting worn. recently, I Googled this code to find that others have ran into this same pesky problem with other Sony http://www.ff-squad.com/sony/ video devices. I always thought the problem was tape brand related as http://www.videoonerepair.com/sony-camcorder-video-camera-error-codes/ the code would rear its ugly head during playback and mostly during rewind jobs on either Sony brand or Panasonic brand mini-dv tapes. My assumptions were close, but not close enough! Isn't the internet great??? I came across this forum: http://www.camerahacker.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Video%20Camera/Sony/Error_Code_C.31.xx Which upon reading, found a DIY sony handycam fix from an Iranian fella by the name of Ahmed Jasim. He explains that a 'white lock pin' is the culprit allowing the black rubber roller to become out of place which in turn makes the Sony device throw error code C:31:23. I've read about the 'bitch smacking' you can do to Sony devices throwing this code. I sony handycam error didn't feel like bitch slapping my tape deck for various reasons. Hence my reasons to go with Ahmeds method. Btw, this damn code prevented me from selling this Sony tape deck to a potential Craigslist customer tonight! This angered me and pushed me to try and fix the deck and to create this web page! So here we are. I figured I'd help out Ahmed Jasim by creating this how-to page with detailed pictures explaining his procedure in getting passed this hellish error code and getting on with your personal video project! For starters, you're doing this fix AT YOUR OWN RISK. Be very careful when performing the tasks below and to not damage or lose any of the small parts inside your camera!!! For the record, I do not know how different Sony video camera internals are vs. my Sony tape deck (hopefully very simliar). I hope you can use this article in the same fashion with your Sony video camera ;) First off, here's a picture of my Sony mini-DV tape dec

You may be asking yourself. Did I do something wrong? Can I fix it myself? Is my camcorder really broken? The answer to this is simple. If your Sony camcorder displays a tape transport or mechanical error code always try resetting the camcorder. This is done by removing the battery or ac power, wait 10 seconds, reapply the battery or ac power and try again. If it still goes into error try another tape. The camcorder will not always display an exact error code. Sometimes you may see an error message such as, “Reinsert the cassette", on the LCD screen. This is the camcorders way of saying, “Take the tape out and try again." Try reloading the same tape as well as a new tape. If the camcorder is still going into error this means it is time to send it in for service or repair. The camcorder may also sometimes display a “Reattach Power Source." This is the camcorders way of saying,"Try resetting my system,so I can try again." Many people mistaken this error and think they have a problem with the battery or ac adapter. This is not true and has nothing to do with your battery or ac adapter. Reset the camcorder by removing the battery or ac power, wait 10 second, reapply the battery or ac power. If the error reappears the unit needs to be serviced or repaired. Here is a list of Sony error codes for mechanical problems, tape transport problems and lens or focus problems. Sony Error Code: C:21:00 Click Here For More Details This is a condensation, moisture or dew error. Just because this error code displays does not mean that the camcorder has actually experienced condensation, moisture or dew. It can also be a defective sensor causing the camcorder to go int
