may come across the C 13:00 error. I was surfing the net yesterday and found a way to get into the diagnostics menu which allows you to calibrate the drive among other things. Here is how you do it. If you don't already know Dual layer DVD's have a gold color playing surface and single layer DVD's are silver. Make sure that the player is OFF, but in standby mode. On the remote press the following within a second of each other. Title, Clear, then Power. You'll se a menu with 6 options Test Mode Menu 0. System Diagnosis 1. Drive Auto Adjustment(Calibration) 2. Drive Manual Operation 3. Mecha Aging 4. Emergency History (has total hours of playtime) 5. Version Information 6. Video Level Adjustment Push 1 and the folowing menu will pop up. Drive Auto Adjustment 0. All 1. DVD-SL 2. CD 3. DVD-DL 4. SACD Exit: RETURN Push 1, and it will ask for a single layer disc. Do this first because sometimes the dual layer will keep failing unless you do. Now when done push 3 and insert the Dual layer disk. When done you can exit by turning off the power. Hope this helps someone. Comment 1, Last comment by Zbigniew Woniewski Sep 17, 2010 Re: Sony DCR-DVD201 Disk Error C:13:00 Joseph Man Posted Mar 09, 2007 Has anyone been able to correct this error? Question: I have a Sony DVD-300 camcorder. The disc (DVD-R) was removed before it was finalized. Is there a way to save this disc or is it junk? I tried to finalize it, but I get a "not ready" message. -submitted by pinkydog Answer: According to Sony, you should be able to finalize a DVD-R disc at any time, even if it was removed and reinserted into the player. Sony recommends that you have the camcorder connected to an AC outlet when finalizing discs. It is also notable that the finalization procedure varies depending whether or not the disc contains static images taken with the camcorders photo mode. Sony has provided the following procedure to follow for finalizing DVD-R discs: Connect the AC adapter to the digital video camera. Plug the AC adapter into a working wall outlet. Turn on the digital video camera. Press the SETUP button. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select DISC SET. Press the ENTER button. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select FINALIZE. Press the ENTER button. If still images are recorded on the disc, press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select PHOTOMOVIE CREATE. Press the ENTER button. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select EXECUTE. Press the ENTER button. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select YES. Press the ENTER button. When the finalizing completion message appears, press the SETUP button. Given that these steps are properly followed, Sony has noted that it is possible there may not be enough space left on the disc to perform the finalization procedure. If this continues to happen with many different discs, you may need to send the camera to Sony for service. Here are a few questions for you to ponder upon. 1. Was it working before? If it was, then most probably your disk is already junk. 2. If not, and it's your first time doing this, then Sony FAILED to mention that you need to FORMAT the disc first before you can do anything. If you did not format it, you can still record and view on the camcorder but you CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT finalize it, whether vi
