I guess I would start by checking the following: Doublecheck that you have the spelling correct, including Capital Letters. I have not worked much with SQL server. Could it be a issue of related records? That if you delete that record, another record would be left without an orphan? Access can enforce referential entegrity, allthough I believe its only for an access database. Whether and how SQL server implements the same I simply don't know enough about. The third option I would look into, is whether there are any triggers related to the table, causing the deletion to be cancelled. Another thing to check, could be to open the SQL server directly, and try to

Solved Runtime Error 3086 Could not Delete from specified tables (Microsoft Access) Posted on 2004-12-22 MS Access 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 11,737 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-27 HI there; I'm trying to delete all records from a SQL table (using Microsoft Access). I'm using the following code: DoCmd.RunSQL ("Delete from tbTempSubscription") This works fine in Microsoft SQL but this in Access gives me a runtime error (3086). Does anyone have ideas why this would happen? I can insert, update and append to this table. I have full rights on the table. 0 Question by:IngridK Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 17 Best Solution bywalterecook Great! Glad you've got it going. If it fails you'll get a better description of what's going on other than "Can't do it" There are a couple of possibilities I can think of: -Someone else has the record open, thus you can't delete it. -Deleting this creates a referential integrity error. Walt 0 Message Author Comment by:IngridK2004-12-23 I found my problem. When I linked the table through Access I didn't specify the key for the table. As soon as I did that I was able to delete.
