Runtime Error R6009 - Not enough Space for Environment Posted on 2011-04-14 MS DOS MS Legacy OS 1 Verified Solution 12 Comments 2,392 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-11 I have one user who cannot after installing another application ar600-9 on her machine cannot run a DOS program required to do business. After installing this program when trying to run the DOS program we get the following error. "Runtime Error R6009 - Not enough Space for Environment" I did a restore of the system to before the new app was installed and the DOS program works again. As soon as I install the program again, the same issue occurs. This same setup works on 30 other machines. This is a XP Pro box. She had issue before with this DOS program taking up way to much CPU so I installed TAME DOS and that corrected the issue, but it has since expired. Would a functional version of TAME take care of this? Or do I need to edit the config.nt file somehow? 0 Question by:Mcottuli Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 1 Best Solution byMcottuli I've solved the issue... The fix was to add the following to the autoexec.nt file Set PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER= Set BLASTER= Set APPDATA= This was able to free up enough memory for the environment. You might try some of the other options in the following link as well. http://www.ehow.com/how_7496352_limit-memory-used-run-program.html 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Expert Comment by:Katastrof2011-04-14 You might also try just going into your task manager and setting the process's priority to LOW 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Author Comment by:Mcottuli2011-04-14 This problem occurs even with out the new program running, just installed. As far as using Tame again, I didn't have this problem with before i installed Tame b4, it was just using huge amounts of CPU, tame correc

The problem starts when trying to run the command line version through console (cmd.exe) and this error appears: C:\>CLUT.exe [arg1] [arg2] [arg3] run-time error R6009 - not enough space for environment So, according to what I've searched, this could be a possible solution: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;230205 but it doesn't work and every alternative that I found to solve this over the internet is the same. Another alternative could be to make right-click in the .exe file, go to Properties then Memory tab and increase the Initial environment memory from Auto to the max value but it doesn't work too. Well, I am stuck and no "possible" solution is working for me. If someone is interested, knows more about this issue and want to test, you can download the application from here (click "Free Download" green button): http://www.filebasket.com/free/Development-Clipper-programming-language/clut-exe/13996.html or directly from my DropBox: https://dl.dropbox.
