Runtime Error 3265 Item Cannot Be Found
Feb 2011 Posts: 4 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Run Time Error 3265 - Item not found in this collection frx error 3265 I'm new to Access and Visual Basic and I keep getting the message "Error #:3265 - Item not found in this collection" I've checked and cannot find the problem. If I remove this line of code, the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/201826 problem happens on the next line. It doesn't seem to recognize the recordset? Can anyone help me on this? Just telling us you have this problem is like going to the doctor and saying doc my leg hurts but not showing him where on your leg it hurts. __________________ Free tools, code and samples here: To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. The error is coming up on the line: Set qry = CurrentDb.QueryDefs(ReportQueryName) I've checked spelling on the fields and I've tried messing with the Tools>References to make sure that I have the correct library. This is my current code: Private time error 3265 Sub Command202_Click() Dim qry As DAO.QueryDef Dim strSQL As String Dim ReportQueryName As String ReportQueryName = "ReportEmail" Set qry = CurrentDb.QueryDefs(ReportQueryName) strSQL = "SELECT [ID], [title] FROM Cases WHERE ID = " & Me.ID qry.SQL = strSQL DoCmd.SendObject acSendQuery, "ReportEmail", acFormatXLSX, "email@address.com", ..., , False End Sub vba ms-access access-vba dao share|improve this question edited Mar 31 at 14:24 Ben Rhys-Lewis 2,25281434 asked Aug 4 '15 at 6:21 Hawsidog 318 Does the query exists before you run this procedure, or are you trying to create it? –Mark Butler Aug 4 '15 at 12:44 The query does not exist before this code is run. –Hawsidog Aug 4 '15 at 16:30 In that case QueryDefs is quite right to report an error! See my answer for how to do it –Mark Butler Aug 4 '15 at 16:44 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted You can't use QueryDefs to create a new query - you have to use CreateQueryDef instead: Private Sub Command202_Click() Dim qry As DAO.QueryDef Dim strSQL As String Dim ReportQueryName As String ReportQueryName = "ReportEmail" strSQL = "SELECT [ID], [title] FROM Cases WHERE ID = " & Me.ID Set qry = CurrentDb

I have this code that I am using. It has been great for four years. However, today I added a new field. The new field is listed as #9 Sort (Yes/No) When I run the code I get a "Run Time Error 3265" Item not found in this collection". However, when I hit the debugger it goes to "qdTMMK.Parameters(10) = Me.DateCode". Which has never given me a problem before Sub CopyMultipleQrevalueTMMK_SelectByTagNumber() Dim rsTMMK As DAO.Recordset Dim qdTMMK As QueryDef Dim reccountTMMK As Long Dim copycountTMMK As Long Dim msgStringTMMK As String Set rsTMMK = Me.qQreValueTMMKVEHSubform.Form.RecordsetClone If Not ((rsTMMK.BOF) And (rsTMMK.EOF)) Then rsTMMK.MoveLast reccountTMMK = rsTMMK.RecordCount Debug.Print reccountTMMK & " records in subform" rsTMMK.MoveFirst For ctr = 1 To rsTMMK.RecordCount If rsTMMK.Fields("Select") = True And rsTMMK("tagNumber") <> Me.TagNumber Then copycountTMMK = copycountTMMK + 1 Debug.Print "*** Copying details to SKPI with Tagnumber " & rsTMMK.Fields("tagNumber") Set qdTMMK = CurrentDb.QueryDefs("qryUpdateQreValue_TagNumber") qdTMMK.Parameters("strTagNumber") = rsTMMK.Fields("tagNumber") 'Fill in the form-based params qdTMMK.Parameters(1) = Me.ProblemDescription qdTMMK.Parameters(2) = Me.HowFound qdTMMK.Parameters(3) = Me.QREConfirmation qdTMMK.Parameters(4) = Me.InterimAction qdTMMK.Param
