Could be introduced by a missing reference in VBA project. Please go to VB IDE by Alt+ F11, then Tools - > references and check the selected. I'm referring to this article. thanks.Forrest Guo | MSDN Community Support | Feedback to manager Proposed as answer by Forrest GuoModerator Wednesday, August 22, 2012 1:22 AM Marked as answer by Forrest GuoModerator Friday, August 24, 2012 5:31 AM Wednesday, August 22, 2012 1:22 AM Reply | Quote Moderator All replies 0 Sign in to vote Would you please share what you are trying to achieve and share the code snippet that throwing the error? thanks.Forrest Guo | MSDN Community Support | Feedback to manager Thursday, August 16, 2012 2:34 AM Reply | Quote Moderator 0 Sign in to vote There's few information about this error. I’ve been looking at the UASubscribeToMultiple http://www.opclabs.com/forum/ua-com-reading-writing-subscriptions/1509-cell-update-in-excel-vba-gives-runtime-error-50290 example and I have a question on how this works. I’m not super familiar with VBA and I couldn’t find anywhere online that addresses this, so I’m sorry if this is a dumb question. After the tags are subscribed, I can see values in the appropriate cells updating. If I click in a different cell (say E2) to edit something, all the updates in the other cells stop. If I click out of E2, the updates for the other cells continue. I notice sometimes as well, while I am editing E2, a runtime error will get thrown. My assumption is that this is because Excel doesn’t allow us to edit more than one cell at a time, and the MonitoredItemChanged event handler is trying to update another cell while I am still editing E2. If I add an On Error handler that ignores the error, everything continues fine. Doing this would lose the information that that event had, so I guess we would need to cache it somewhere to try to update the cell’s value again if possible if we don’t want to lose any data? My question is – is this an expected feature of Excel? What exactly is going on wh

2003. emblair3 Guest Has anyone ever encountered error 50290 ("Application defined or object defined error") when trying to write to a worksheet containing a 3rd party ActiveX Control? (i.e., The line 'Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Value = 1' causes an error.) This error seems to occur ocassionally and spontaneously. I have tried everything, but I know I'm not alone. (Search Google for Excel Error 50290 and you'll find several hits - but no solutions.) Thanks in advance. emblair3, Oct 30, 2003 #1 Advertisements Fred Guest I also ran into this problem lately, I haven't find a solution yet, but I found something in the Microsoft Knowledge Base about this http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;ja;820595 The problem is this article is in Japanese, and I cannot find the same article under the English version and I don't read Japanese either. Hopefully someone can help, thanks in advance. Post a solution, but do it in Japanese. God love ya. I 'fished your page (http://babelfish.altavista.com/) but the translation is, um, difficult to understand. Imagine Yoda providing MSFT tech support. I have discovered that if you wait for a random amount of time and try again, this error mysteriously goes away. (I do this by using On Error Exit Sub in my WriteToWorkSheet sub.) You obviously miss whatever data was happening during that period of time, but at least your code doesn't die. *** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com *** Don't ju
