and cannot figure out what the issue is.Whenever I try to boot, no matter what the kernel is uncompression error system halted linux or what compression option in mkinitcpio.conf has been chosen, I get the following sequence:Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok early console in decompress_kernel Decompressing Linux... uncompression error --
Ubuntu 14.04 Uncompression Error System Halted
System haltedThis happens with both the primary and the fallback.I've deleted the boot partition and recreated it and I still get the same error.I've modified /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and changed the compression type to "cat", same error. I've also tried setting the compression to gzip, bzip2.After booting from the ISO and chrooting, I've tried examining the initramfs files with:mkdir /tmp/initramfs; uncompression error system halted centos cd /tmp/initramfs; cat /boot/initramfs-linux.img | cpio -i mkdir /tmp/initramfs-fallback; cd /tmp/initramfs-fallback; cat /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img | cpio -iand in both cases had no issues uncompressing the kernels into the /tmp directory. Also had no issues uncompressing the kernels when the compression option in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf was set to gzip and bzip2.I've tried installing and reinstalling multiple kernels from the chroot. I've tried manually generating the initramfs with mkinitcpio. The boot partition is GPT and uses syslinux. The boot options are extremely minimal:./linux ../vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda3 rw initrd=../initramfs-linux.imgand./linux ../vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda3 rw initrd=../initramfs-linux-fallback.imgAny suggestions? Extensive searching has come up short... I partitioned my harddrive into ~ 45 gigabytes and 30 gigabytes. I put windows 7 on the 45 gig partition and tried to put Trisquel 6.0 on the 30 gig partition. I installed Trisquel on a usb drive a while ago and was able to boot from it before. I actually was able to install trisquel on this computer before I had windows on it. This time I booted from the usb, chose install trisquel to hdd, and selected the 30 gig partition, with "ext4" and "/". It installed on the partition but when I try to boot it, I get "Uncompression error System halted". I'm actually getting the Trisquel boot screen which lets me choose between windows and trisquel. Windows works fine but when I choose trisquel, I get the error. I tried to reboot from the usb drive so I could reinstall it, but if I try, I get the same error. I chose "install to hdd". The "Try trisquel from USB drive" option didn't work either. I tried to choose "Test memory" but nothing happened. I didn't include swap space when I installed and I wasn't connected to the internet. What happened? I thought that 3 gigabytes is enough for that. How do I solve this? Thanks for your help. I would re-download the Trisquel iso again from your windows partition and try to reinstall again. You may need to use a decent usb creator to recreate your image.
