Vmware Remote Console Unrecoverable Error (vmrc)
Player guest machine. My host is running Ubuntu 11.04 & the guest is a WinXP machine.I mostly use a copy of my guest on a Win7 host with VMware vmware remote console unrecoverable error (vmrc) access violation Server (which works fine) but occasionally I copy it over to my Ubuntu 11.04 laptop for when I'm working remotely. At first I thought it might be a flaky copy, but taking a new copy of the guest didn't help.Yesterday the problem showed up quite consistently, whenever I was trying to do some certain network acceses (for licensing an vmware unrecoverable error vcpu-0 application).Jun 23 15:35:37.218: mks| Msg_Post: ErrorJun 23 15:35:37.218: mks| [msg.log.error.unrecoverable] VMware Player unrecoverable error: (mks)Jun 23 15:35:37.218: mks| Unexpected signal: 6.Does anyone have any ideas?Should I just be holding out for a new version of VMware Player (& crossing my fingers)?Darren. vmware-1.log 79.7 K 5043Views Tags: none (add) networkingContent tagged with networking, windows_xpContent tagged with windows_xp, networkContent tagged with network, windowsContent tagged with windows, xpContent tagged with xp, ubuntuContent tagged with ubuntu, linuxContent tagged with linux, bridgedContent tagged with bridged, vmware_playerContent tagged with vmware_player, linux-hostContent tagged with linux-host, networking_problemContent tagged with networking_problem This content has been marked as final. The other day I did however get this message when trying to start my Windows7 VM: VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (svga) Unexpected signal: 11. A log file is available in "/vmware/Windows7x64/vmware.log". You can request support. To collect data to submit to VMware support, choose "Collect Support Data" from the Help http://stackoverflow.com/questions/33737286/vmware-workstation-encounters-unrecoverable-error-svga-unexpected-signal-11 menu. You can also run the "vm-support" script in the Workstation folder directly. We will respond on the basis of your support entitlement. I noted that .lck-files have been created in my VM folder. When removing these I can start the VM, however this takes me 13 days bak in time, 3 November where a lot of code is missing. Possible reasons for this is that I have been accessing the VM both locally and remotely, which could have caused concurrency issues and thereby the creation of .lck fies. Sometimes when I try to open the Windows VM I also get this: Failed to lock the file Cannot open the disk '/vmware/Windows7x64/Windows7x64-000001.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Module 'Disk' power on failed. Failed to start the virtual machine. On another note I have also tred resolving this by updating to the latest version. When I try to do this within the program I do however get: There was a problem updating a software component. Try again later and if the problem persists, contact VMware Support or your system administrator Please help me. I do not want to redo 13 days of work. (No I have no backup of th
01:46 PMHi, I've posted this thread over at the VMware forum (http://communities.vmware.com/message/1427176#1427176), but I figured it can't hurt to try here as well. I'm running VMplayer 3.0.0 instances on https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1341895.html an Ubuntu 9.10 host, with SLES9 and XP guests. XP runs fine, but I don't really tax it. I use SLES to run a few quite intensive applications, and this seems to be causing me problems. Basically, VMplayer crashes and it seems to take X on the host (or parts of it) with it. The problem first manifested as a complete freeze - unrecoverable error no display updates or keyboard or mouse action on the guest or the host. Had to do a hard reset to get back. I think the system itself was still running, as there's occasional HDD access, which is what made me think of a problem with X. This happened a few times, then seemed to move into the next phase of the error (not vmware workstation unrecoverable sure what triggered the change). It also sometimes just crashed VMplayer itself, flashing up an error message about an unrecoverable error before killing itself completely. The host system was still usable after this sort of crash, but with keyboard problems as described below. This happened a few times as well. After reinstalling VMplayer 3.0.0 the problems have persisted, but not in quite so severe a way. The error message now remains after the crash, so it looks like it's slightly more stable. However, keyboard input on the host is affected - modifier keys don't work, including Shift, Ctrl and Caps Lock - and the only way to recover is to restart X by logging out and in again. This is the only problem I'm having at the moment. One result I found while googling suggested updating video drivers, so I've tried that with no effect. The problem also persists with vmplayer 2.5.3 (the log excerpt below is from 2.5.3, there's a sample 3.0.0 crash log on the VMware forum), so I've kept 3.0.0 installed for now. As I say, it seems to be related to load on the guest
