Vmware Unrecoverable Error Vcpu 0
2 down vote favorite 1 Have been using VMware workstation for a while now. The other day I did however get this message when trying to start my Windows7 VM: VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (svga) Unexpected signal: 11. A log file is available in "/vmware/Windows7x64/vmware.log". You can request support. To collect data to submit to VMware support, choose "Collect Support Data" from the Help menu. You can also run the "vm-support" vmware workstation unrecoverable error (vmui) script in the Workstation folder directly. We will respond on the basis of your support entitlement. I noted that .lck-files have been created in my VM folder. When removing these I can start the VM, however this takes me 13 days bak in time, 3 November where a lot of code is missing. Possible reasons for this is that I have been accessing the VM both locally and remotely, which could have caused concurrency issues and thereby the creation of .lck fies. Sometimes when I try to open the Windows VM I also get this: Failed to lock the file Cannot open the disk '/vmware/Windows7x64/Windows7x64-000001.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Module 'Disk' power on failed. Failed to start the virtual machine. On another note I have also tred resolving this by updating to the latest version. When I try to do this within the program I do however get: There was a problem updating a software component. Try again later and if the problem persists, contact VMware Support or your system administrator Please help me. I do not want to redo 13 days of work. (No I have no backup of the files unfortunately). virtual-machine vmware vmware-workstation share|improve this question asked Nov 16 '15 at 14:

As your question does not mention VPC at all.Guessing at what is happening; you may be attempting to import / run a VM from VPC with Workstation. In that case, it is a VMware issue.Brian Ehlert (hopefully you have found this useful) Marked as answer by Sean Zhu -Moderator Wednesday, September 30, 2009 7:16 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2009 2:48 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote First of all, you have no description of what you are doing.Second of all - VMware Workstation and VPC can be installed on the same lachine but they cannot be in use (running a VM) at the same time on the same machine.Beyond that, I don't understand why this is a VPC issue. I think of it because of my extensive experience with restarting the Microsoft Windows for the resolution of many issues :) Steps: Close VMWare Restart the Host operating system Start VMWare Select the Virtual Machine and click Run. It will show you the error as display above. Click OK and click at Run again. Now it will show you an option to select start in Safe Mode. Select this option and hit enter. It will start the loading process. You may see a message that you will not able to do this & that while in safe mode. Click Ok to that. Your virtual machine should open in safe mode. Now shut down the virtual machine (Start->Shut Down) Run the virtual machine again. This time no need to select Safe Mode. Your virtual machine should back to normal. It works for me. Once I had to do this steps twice but otherwise it work as listed here. Remember to re-start your host operating system so it release some of the files it may have locked. The necessity to start in Safe Mode did not occur in my case. This happened with VMWare WorkStation 8.0.6 build-1035888. After restarting the guest OS, the
