and run the .msi file. Problem solved. 32-bit Windows 7/Vista/XP VPN Client (version 5.0.07) 64-bit Windows 7/Vista/VPN Client (version 5.0.07) 3. Optional if needed: Open regedit Browse to the registry key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CVirtA Select the display name to modify: x86 - "@oem8.ifn,%CVirtA_Desc%;Cisco Systems VPN Adapter" to "Cisco Systems VPN Adapter" x64 -"@oem8.ifn,%CVirtA_Desc%;Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for cisco vpn client for windows 8.1 64 bit 64-bit Windows" to "Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows" Reboot The first two steps worked for me without the need for registry edit. I checked and the settings were already spelled correctly on my machine. Full disclosure my systems are clean Windows 10 installs without being upgrades. Without installing the Sonicwall client first you will get Error 433 after trying to connect. Checking the logs shows that it cannot download the key to complete the secure connection. What happens is that the Sonicwall client adds the DNE Lightweight filter network client on the machine. I tried getting it directly from Citrix and installing it that way but was unsuccessful. Using this method you can now get some more use out of the Cisco VPN client. If you prefer you can uninstall the Sonicwall client afterwards. I've been told by several people that the DNE software remains even after the Sonicwall client is removed. Version 1607 Build 14393.10 EDIT: Updated 08/03/2016 All of the steps

At least I did. I had to remove the ndis.sys https://itthatshouldjustwork.blogspot.com/2015/07/cisco-64-bit-vpn-client-on-windows-10.html file after installing the VPN client and before rebooting. Then when you reboot Win 7 will repair this file and you are prompted to reboot once again and now it will work. /WW Wictor - Thursday, January 15, 2009 2:12:52 PM I have tried many--many different ways to get the Cisco VPN client install on Windows 7--all resulting in BSOD (ndis.sys). I have found the following procedure has worked 100% of the time on multiple hardware platforms http://weblogs.asp.net/bhouse/how-to-successfully-install-cisco-vpn-client-on-windows-7 (including VMware): 1. Install Cisco DNEupdate. 2. Reboot 3. Take ownership and delete ndis.sys (in c:\windows\system32\drivers). 4. Take ownership and delete ndis.sys.mui (in c:\windows\system32\drivers\en-us). 5. Install Cisco VPN Client 5.0.04.0300. 6. Reboot 7. Windows 7 will repair itself (should take a few seconds) and automatically reboot. 8. Cisco VPN Client should work without any other tweaks. Hope this helps. JoshP - Friday, January 16, 2009 5:06:46 AM To further elaborate on steps 6 & 7; 6. Insert your Windows 7 install disc. 6a. Shrewsoft works fine with my work's VPN (it imports PCF files). The development builds (2.1+) listed on their site support Win7 x64. http://www.shrew.net/download/vpn The problem I had with the Cisco client is while it did work ok in XP mode, you couldn't just run it like a program from Windows 7 (like most other programs you install in XP mode) without setting up some serious routing. share|improve this answer edited Nov 19 '09 at 1:30 answered Nov 19 '09 at 1:16 Glycerine 1513 1 Nice!
