upon opening I get the popup window with this "Failed to create SDL Window" error. On subsequent runs I get another warning dialog about disabling hardware acceleration and falling back to software mode, but it still dies with the fatal error from SDL. I have searched for a solution to this problem already and found suggestions about adding -sw, -soft, -32bpp, -dev, -w and -h,

-gl, -nofbo to the launch options and none of those have had any effect on removing the fatal error dialog. SDL simply cannot create a window on my system. I've also tried setting compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2 to no avail. I've tried ticking other compatibility options such as 640x480, 256 colors, disable themes, disable compositing, etc. and none of those have had any effect either. I paid $5 USD for this game and can't seem to be able to run it at all. I have a relatively modern (2-3yo) system and it should definitely not have any trouble whatsoever running such an old game like this. My Steam client is up to date, the game content is up to date, integrity of game cache is validated, and my graphics drivers are up to date. Opposing Force. After downlading them I played Half Life. No problems. However, I went to play Blue Shift and whilst it was loading it seemed to freeze on the screen. I had to w_loadwadfile couldn't load gfx wad cs 1.6 download close it through task manager and I tried again. I tried many times and it

I then closed it and opened it again and was confronted by the same problem. Half Life has no problem. It's just Blue Shift and Opposing Force. I saw somewhere https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife/issues/1606 that Blue Shift has a long loading time so I opened it and left it but no result. Is this normal? If not PLEASE help because I spent good money on that!! gorpie12-06-2010, 01:33 PMWhat is your OS? Sometimes even with XP, people need to set up a DEP exception (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7169-TIAV-5361#dep) for the game(s), though it's rare. A DEP exception is needed more often in Vista or Win7. You may also need to set up http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-1635519.html an exception in your firewall/antivirus program. And you can try running in compatibility mode. Just the same problem. gorpie12-07-2010, 01:46 PMTry verifying the game cache files. (In Steam Library, right click on the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache.) You may want to change your Steam download region first. Try defragmenting the game cache files, even if it says they aren't fragmented. (Option is in the same place as Verify.) Try deleting the file Steam\ClientRegistry.blob. (Exit Steam first.) evlow12-09-2010, 10:56 AMBrilliant! I verified game cache and SUCCESS! Thanks man! EDIT: Damn, getting the same problem again now on Opposing Force and Blue Shiftbut moslty Blue Shift. Now it's crashing in-game aswell. I'm de-fragmening and verifying but no l
try and start https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1380400 up Opposing Force, it crashes on start up with the error message "Fatal error W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad". I have http://www.taringa.net/comunidades/comunidad-hl/436731/Ayuda-con-HL-fatal-error-sv-startsound-volume-510.html tried verifying the game files, reinstalling the game, reinstalling Half-Life and then Opposing Force and, even restarting my computer. But after trying to boot it up for the first time in a w_loadwadfile couldn't load while seems to have caused this. Any help with this? Thanks. I guess I should try just deleting everything in the Opposing Force installation folder manually? Edited: Just realised that it doesn't have it own folder. I'll try deleting the whole Half-Life folder minus the save folder and see what happens. Reply Reply Subscribe All times are GMT. The time now is 10:40AM.
