Usbasp Driver Windows 10
post here on AVRfreaks :D Up until recently I've been using my trusty old copy of windows XP to burn code to AVR's with a USBasp, avrdude 5.4 and AVRstudio 4. Recently I installed Windows 7 on my computer, and after re-installing AVRstudio and AVRdude, I found that AVRdude would no longer recognise my USBasp. and keeps coming up with "error: could not find USB device "USBasp" with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc". was a bit confused for a moment before I realised that I hadn't yet installed the drivers for the USBasp. But here's the problem, Windows 7 refuses to accept that the drivers I'm offering it are drivers at all! It just says "Windows could not find driver software for your device" whenever I direct it to the folder where the drivers are. can anyone suggest how to fix this? Google has turned up nothing upon searching for USBasp win7 drivers. Tags:AVR Microcontrollers, megaAVR and tinyAVR Log in / register to post comments Top Zaphodikus Level: Wannabe Joined: Sun. I got a usbasp to play with a little while ago and finally http://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/problem-connecting-avrdude-usbasp?page=all got around to installing it. The drivers were installed without difficulty and the programmer shows up in the device manager in xp. However, avrdude cannot find or connect to the programmer. The exact error isQuote:avrdude: error: could not find USB device "USBasp" with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc I have the programmer connected to a zif socket for the m328p chips i've got. I have no crystal attached, the chip is using the default 1mhz internal. my particular usbasp does not have the "slow speed clock" jumper mentioned in some usbap papers. maybe it's too old. What should I be looking at to get it to work? thanks --David Tags:AVR Microcontrollers, megaAVR and tinyAVR Log in / register to post comments Top larryvc Level: Raving Lunatic Joined: Thu. I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit. The error I was getting in the log file windows 10 of the firmware updating utility was the following: ====== Sat Oct 11 16:45:41 2014 ====== avrdude: error: could not find USB device "USBasp" with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc ====== Sat Oct 11 16:45:41 2014 ====== Error uploading firmware. The error to me tended to be a bit misleading in the fact that I was hard core troubleshooting the USB driver from within device manager. could not find This included uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, unplug this, unplug that… Felt a bit like troubleshooting with Comcast support.. Anyway, I finally wound up using this driver: I believe it is also necessary to configure a proper .inf file AND rename the "libusb0_x86.dll" file to "libusb1.sys" prior to installing this usb driver. STEPS in the following order: NOTE: I did not have to disable driver signing using this driver as it is partially signed. 1. Download usb drivers from sourceforge using link above. 2. Extract to a temporary folder. 3. Rename .dll file located in libusb-win32-bin-1.2.6.0\x86 4. Connect OpenSprinkler controller while holding down button b2 using USB cable. Make sure display is blank! 5. Review Device Manager to make sure that the USBasp device is recognized. 6. Using the inf wizard located in libusb-win32-bin-1.2.6.0\bin create an inf file for the installation to use. Once the wizard starts select the "USBasp" from the device selection. Take the defaults on the next screen for vendor and product ID's. Save the file in the same folder where you extracted the driver into. 7. Change back to your t

I'm just praying someone is able to find my mistake. I tried these steps on an Inspiron M501R(duel boot both linux mint 17 and Windows 7) and an older Inspiron with Windows 7. Here is what I did (among maaaany other things): 1)Ordered a usbasp 2)Made a custom cable, 10 pin to 6 pin 3)connected it to my Gen 7 1.5 board with an Atmega1284-PU and 20Mhz crystal 4)downloaded Arduino 1.0.5r2, gen 7 IDE support package and Sprinter firmware from Kliment a)For Windows 7- downloaded the drivers from an external site and continued as steps explained 5)Checked the fuses 6)connected usbasp to laptop and powered on board with external psu 7)In Arduino I selected my board and programmer and selected 'Burn Bootloader' 8)Recieved on linux: avrdude: Warning: cannot query manufacturer for device: error sending control message: Operation not permitted avrdude: error: could not find USB device "USBasp" with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc and on windows only the second line... I'm relatively new to linux, but it appears the permissions are wrong, but that doesn't solve the second line... which is where the problem lies. Any ideas?
