I had a failed drive in a RAID setup, the drive was pulled and replacee https://www.rrr.se/cgi/arerrr?n=9260 with a new one. In my naivety I assumed the controller would just rebuild the RAID in the background, but no :( The server is still running but with degraded performance. I've been trying to work out what to do to get the new disk online and have hit something of a brick wall, the server is running LINUX 64Bit and the MegaCLI64 utility is installed, if I list the Physical Disks i can see the old drive https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/318091-failed-disk-lsi-megaraid-sas-9260-8i still listed as :- Enclosure Device ID: 252 Slot Number: 6 Device Id: 21 Sequence Number: 3 Media Error Count: 0 Other Error Count: 7 Predictive Failure Count: 0 Last Predictive Failure Event Seq Number: 0 PD Type: SAS Raw Size: 558.911 GB [0x45dd2fb0 Sectors] Non Coerced Size: 558.411 GB [0x45cd2fb0 Sectors] Coerced Size: 558.406 GB [0x45cd0000 Sectors] Firmware state: Failed SAS Address(0): 0x5000c5001d89fc75 SAS Address(1): 0x0 Connected Port Number: 6(path0) Inquiry Data: SEAGATE ST9600204SS 00043WN05G0M FDE Capable: Not Capable FDE Enable: Disable Secured: Unsecured Locked: Unlocked Needs EKM Attention: No Foreign State: None Device Speed: 6.0Gb/s Link Speed: 6.0Gb/s Media Type: Hard Disk Device Drive: Not Certified Obviously the new drive is actually in this slot, how I can force the config to drop the old one and pick up the new one ? Many thanks in advance PS The server is colocated so physical access isn't very easy, I do have remote console access.
