The system variable '?PathCurrent' returns completely crazy results, evidently not windows 10 and wordperfect the WP default path\directory or any path in useful correlation with WP8/9/10 wordperfect won't save documents settings. Its unpredictable and not documented behavior is a punishment for every macro writer. Originally by WP documentation:

introduces a new sys variable for example '?PathDefault' or '?PathStandard' working correctly at least. Nevertheless WP itself knows very well where the default directory is stored. If you click ->File->Open after 'FileChangeDir' you get always the correct new default directory. The big question is now: Where WP stores it? In the registry? I have searched in vain the whole day. Also see this interesting newsgroups thread (http://groups.google.com/groups?threadm=3c1c4039%241_3%40cnews) that contains a solution to your question. Some quotes Written by Gilbert Premo: ?Path and ?DosPath return the path of the document you have open, NOT where you are currently logged on. (and will be blank for a never saved document). ?PathCurrent [misleading name] and ?PathDocument return the STARTING Default document paths (or the macro path if you are in a macro), not where you are CURRENTLY. Try it with the following macro: DOSPath=?DosPath Path=?Path PathCurrent=?PathCurrent PathDocument=?PathDocument DOSPath=?DosPath Hrt=NTOC(0F90Ah) Prompt ("Path Report";"Path is "+Path+Hrt+"Path Current is "+PathCurrent+Hrt+"Path Document is "+PathDocument+Hrt+"DOSPath is "+DOSPath; InformationIcon! | NoButtons! | Beep!) I just installed WordPerfect 8 (older version) on my new Windows 7 Home Premium PC. It installed fine, I was able to set my defaults, type new documents and everything seemed fine until I tried to save a

new document. When I click "Save", a window opens saying "WPWin Error, Cannot Save File". My old wordperfect not responding pc was an XP and of all of my software programs, WP8 is the only one I've been able to install with no problems. I've is wordperfect compatible with windows 10 had to purchase other new software just for Win 7. I really would like to avoid having to buy new WordPerfect software as well. I did download WinHlp32.exe so I could use the help files. Otherwise, can someone tell me what http://www.wpuniverse.com/vb/archive/index.php/t-12628.html?s=0007a01e72ea6886c7d46e35a847dbc3 is causing this WPWin error and how to save my new documents? Thank you. Jane, Jan 19, 2011 #1 Advertisements brkkab123 VIP Member Joined: May 7, 2010 Messages: 1,279 Likes Received: 141 Location: Florida Word Perfect 8 was for Windows 95. If Compatibility Mode for Windows 95 doesn't work, then it's time to upgrade to WordPerfect 14 or 15. Try right clicking on Word Perfect in the Start Menu, select Properties, click on the box that says "Run this program in http://www.w7forums.com/threads/need-help-with-wpwin-error.9679/ Compatibility Mode for", scroll down to Windows 95 and select it. Then click Apply and then OK. If that doesn't work you'll have to upgrade and you should anyway. Word Perfect 8 came out in 1997. It's came out almost 14 years ago. brkkab123, Jan 19, 2011 #2 Advertisements Jane Joined: Jan 19, 2011 Messages: 2 Likes Received: 0 After further searching on the internet, I finally found a solution in Microsoft "Answers" from someone else who had the same issue, before I saw your response. Below is the solution on Microsoft Answers that I found for anyone else experiencing the same issue. The solution was for WordPerfect 10, but it worked for my WordPerfect 8. As for the age of my WordPerfect 8, it works great, always has, and there is no reason for me to spend over $100 just to buy a newer version. Do you buy a new car every year, or a new house every year, new appliances every year or new anything every year just because what you already have is older? I doubt it. From JimTheTech: ... I clicked on Start, then "All Programs", then "WordPerfect Office 2002", then on "WordPerfect 10" I right-clicked the program icon, clicked "Properties", and then click the "Compatibility" tab. Then set to "Run this program in compatibility mode " "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)". Jane, Jan 20, 2011 #3 Advertisements Show Ignored Content Want to reply to this thread or ask y

Important: Even though it might not seem so at times, the majority of unfamiliar or non-obvious problems in WordPerfect tend to involve internal damage (i.e., file corruption) to the document(s) you are working on, or trying to open -- that is, assuming it is not simply a formatting problem (discussed below),which is even more common than document corruption. These are discussed later in this article. Note that repairing or reinstalling WordPerfect will NOT fix a corrupted use
