It occurs on shutdown when the OneDrive sync service wants to start itself again even though your computer is still in the process of shutting down. It doesn’t impact service, but is an annoyance nonetheless. If you want to fix Windows 10 error ID 7031, here’s how to do it. Event ID7031 is caused by OneDrive and its OneSyncSvc_Session. Windows windows 10 sees it try to restart while the system is shutting down so flags it to Service Control Manager, resulting in error 7031. Of course, once you reboot your computer, OneDrive starts as normal and there is no impact on service. Fix Windows 10 error ID 7031 The only fix I know of to address the error is to turn off OneSyncSvc. This obviously impacts OneDrive but can also have an impact on other Windows Store apps such as 7031 print spooler Mail and Calendar. So I would only suggest doing it if you really cannot deal with the error appearing in Event Viewer. Take a copy of your registry before making any changes. 1. Type or paste ‘regedit’ into the Search Windows box. 2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OneSyncSvc. 3. Change the Start item and the ‘"3xxx" OneSyncSvc’ to 4. This will disable the service. If you find the inconvenience too much and prefer to deal with the errors rather than lose Mail or Calendar, just revert the change back to normal.
