compatible with Windows 10. How can that be? My PC is currently running Windows 8.1 Pro windows 10 will not run on this pc the display is not compatible with windows 10 and only 1 year old -- so I don't understand why my CPU isn't compatible with Windows 10? I read somewhere that if you unfortunately this pc is unable to run windows 10 bypass have Windows 8 or 8.1 that the CPU should automatically be compatible with Windows 10 as the hardware requirements are virtually the same. Any ideas? My CPU is the Intel Core i7 4790K. " My Response: You are correct:

if your PC can run Windows 8 or 8.1, then the CPU is automatically compatible with Windows 10, even if the "Get Windows 10" app reports that your CPU is not compatible. The reason it says your CPU is not compatible is due to a bug in the "Get Windows 10" app, and there are two patches available for that (one for Windows 8 and another for Windows 7). I'll explain how to fix the bug in Scenario #1 (below).

On the other hand, if you are NOT already running Windows 8 or 8.1, you may need to enable a setting in the computer's BIOS to ensure that it passes the Windows 10 CPU compatibility check when you click on the "Get Windows 10" app. I'll refer to this as Scenario #2. Both scenarios are described below. Scenario 1: How to Fix the Windows 10 Compatibility Check (Bug) The bug fix described below applies to Windows 8 and Windows 7 systems. On June 1st, Microsoft released the "Get Windows 10" app which appeared in the tray bar next to the clock (denoted by a white Microsoft logo). Unfortunately the "Get Windows 10" app had problems recognizing some CPUs as being compatible with Windows 10, and therefore produced a false negative with an erroneous message stating: "Here's why Windows 10 can not be installed on this PC: The CPU isn't supported." On June 2nd, Microsoft released an update to fix the "Get Windows 10" app, but the update may not have been automatically downloaded as it was originally marked Optional, then later changed to Recommended. If you have Windows Update set to manually download updates, then you would have to manually select this update to have it installed. Please note that the patch is only available through Windows Update. For Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 systems, the patch is KB2976978; for Windows 7 SP1 systems, the patch is KB29526

While installing Windows 8, you may see the following error cpu not supported windows 10 message: This PC can't run Windows 8 / 10 Your PC’s CPU isn’t compatible with Windows 8 / 10 So what has changed since the Consumer Preview? Let us check what https://www.infopackets.com/news/9619/how-fix-cpu-not-compatible-windows-10-error this error is and what Microsoft is saying about it. As we can see, this error is related to CPU requirements for Windows 8 Release Preview. So to install Windows 8 RP, your CPU (processor) must support these features - PAE/NX/SSE2 . Let us see what these means. “No-eXecute (NX) is a processor feature that allows marking of memory pages as non-executable. The feature http://www.thewindowsclub.com/your-pcs-cpu-isnt-compatible-with-windows-8 allows the CPU to help guard the system from attacks by malicious software. When the NX feature is enabled on a system, it prevents malicious software code from being placed in accessible regions of memory to be executed when control reaches that memory location. Windows 8 requires that systems must have processors that support NX, and NX must be turned on” “Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2) is a previous standard that is supported in Intel and AMD processors. All processors that support NX also support SSE2.” “To use the NX processor feature, the processor must be running in Physical Address Extension (PAE) mode. PAE is a processor feature that enables x86 processors to access more than 4 GB of physical memory on capable versions of Windows. “ The processor requirement won't impact customers on modern systems, or on systems that meet logo requirements for Windows 7 because these systems have PAE-capable 32-bit processors that support NX and allow NX to be turned on. Only a small set of customers who have Windows 7 running on very old 32-bit processors without PAE/NX support will be impacted. Check if your system Support
