In To QuickBooks PDF Issues April 16, 201344 Comments Written by Charlie Russell Another article on QuickBooks and PDF’s. This time I want to explain some “inner workings” of QuickBooks and PDF drivers that https://www.sleeter.com/blog/2013/04/digging-in-to-quickbooks-pdf-issues/ I didn’t understand before now. This will mostly be of interest to those https://qbsupportblog.wordpress.com/2014/10/17/unable-to-print-from-quickbooks/ of you who like the technical details, but it may help if you are trying to work out some technical issues with QuickBooks. I’ve written many articles about QuickBooks and PDF drivers over the years, because it tends to be one of the more frustrating aspects of the program. QuickBooks (Windows windows 10 desktop versions) use a “printer driver” approach to creating PDF files, which tends to create problems in many Windows installations. The program prints to a special printer driver that turns the data into a printed format, and then that printed format is transformed into a PDF file. It could be done differently, using just internal PDF export routines (Amyuni has routines for this, as do pdf repair tool other software developers), but this approach is so widely used in QuickBooks code that it probably would be a lot of work to switch to something that is easier to support. I wish they used a different approach, but at this stage I doubt that they’ll make changes. So, let’s talk about the “history” of QuickBooks PDF drivers, about the odd “two driver” issue in QuickBooks 2013, and some information about how to resolve these problems. The Sad History of QuickBooks and PDF Drivers (abridged) In QuickBooks 2010 and older, Intuit was printing directly to a PDF driver from a company called Amyuni. This driver was very sensitive to operating system configuration issues, and often had problems with 64 bit computer systems. This is the nature of printer drivers in Microsoft Windows - all drivers like this tend to be affected by many different factors outside the control of the software. A lot of the fixes to PDF problems that are being implemented for these versions of QuickBooks involve configuring the driver and the printer ports that it is using. Starting with QuickBooks 2011, Intuit switched over to a new appro
this a very frustrating situation when things don't work the way its supposed to. In this article i will explain the the troubleshooting printer issues. As always, first thing to do is to identify the issue & then work on fixing it. Isolate the issue, Try printing something form a notepad or Microsoft word. If that works then it means the printer is working fine & we need to work on QuickBooks printer setting. & if you are not able to print from notepad or Microsoft word then we need to troubleshoot the actual printer. Lets say that the situation now is that the printer works fine with other application but its just the QuickBooks that you are not able to print from. 1 : Update QuickBooks to the latest Release. 2: Run the printer repair tool. 3: Delete QBPRINT.QBP. The printer settings are stored in a file called QBPRINT.QBP. This issue most often occurs if the file has become damaged or corrupted. If the printing problem is due to application error then these three simple steps will resolve the issue. Hope this helps Someone.
