E I386 Asms Error Message Parameter Incorrect

I recieve this error. Error: Installation Failed:\I386\asms. Error Message: Incorrect function. Fatal Error: One of he components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. Incorrect windows xp installation failed i386 asms function. This is a Pentium II 400 with 128MB and 10 gigs. Could the CD burner be in conflict. Bios? Any clue? Asms File Missing Fix
Rom drive may not be reading the disk properly due to contamination on either the disk or the lasers on the drive.
