I have set up a number of client laptops/desktops (winXP Pro) to windows xp connect to their home base (Win2003 SBS) via "standard" VPN setup provided by WinXP Pro. If the VPN is set up on a new XP Pro PC without installing any of the new 'Microsoft Updates' all is well and the PCs connect quickly to the host. If I perform a MS update and bring in the MS provided software updates, then install the VPN capability failure windows xp EXACTLY as I did before the updates, the PC will not connect to the host and I get a Error 768. I am using a L2TP IPSEC VPN with a preshared key. I have done a side by side with two laptops on the same network connecting through the same router to the same host and the updated laptop will not connect but the non-updated one will. Has anybody ever encountered this? Need some help/advise.
