Now I'm running into an issue attempting to access or delete a particular directory on my machine, C:\Common\BuildArtifacts\ - I receive an "Access is Denied" error from Windows Things I've tried: I've tried making the folder writeable by going to properties -> http://superuser.com/questions/234895/solving-access-is-denied-issue-with-windowsxp de-select read-only I found that under the folder properties, no "security" tab exists. I've tried deleting the file thru windows explorer, shift deleting the file, and doing an "rmdir" under a commandline for the BuildArtifacts directory. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to resolve this error? The only thing I can think of doing next is going into safe mode, and I'm not even sure if that will help. windows-xp file-corruption share|improve this question edited Oct 9 '13 at 13:45 Dave M 12.3k82436 asked Jan 18 '11 at 20:48 CrimsonX 106114 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Try accessing the account as the system user and seeing if there are security settings as the system user. I recently rebooted an old Dell and put a new HDD with Windows 7 on it, I needed to replace the HDD because my old one (with Windows XP) got a virus and subsequently became corrupt, and every time I tried to use the Windows XP disk to repair the hard drive, I would get a BSOD (BAD_POOL_CALLER). I plugged my windows xp old XP drive into another SATA port so I can access it from the Windows 7 drive, but when I try to grab off a ton of my old files at a time, or any folder/file for that matter, it says "Access Denied" and I have to change the ownership of the folder/file (very tedious when you have 80gb worth of pictures, video and music). So my question is if there's any way I could bypass the security as access is denied a whole (it's my account on there so I know the user info and password if that makes a difference) so I could backup all my files without running into a security block, because as mentioned previously, I'm able to change the ownership for one specific folder/file at a time but that means I would have to do so for every file in every folder, and I have quite a lot of files. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time!
