Help? Tags: Windows XP Last response: 29 July 2010 19:19 in Windows XP Share skishop69 17 April 2010 09:21:53 Ok, I've http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/246561-45-copy-file-access-denied-help got a brand new system I just built and my fiance's crashed sometime ago. She has all of her music on it and wants it back. I hooked her HDD to my system using a USB2.0 box and have no problem accessing the drive or copying pictures to my system. If I try to copy music, I get Access Denied. I have file sharing enabled, have unchecked 'read only' in her files and still get the same message. I thought it windows xp might have something to do with them being iTunes, but I have tried Sound Taxi, Imgburn and a few others to copy or convert them and I get the same message. Any one have any ideas as to what I need to do here? I'm running XP Pro 64 bit and her system was running '98. I'm at the end of my miniscule knowledge..... More about : copy file access denied digitalprospecter 17 April 2010 11:35:01 Can you open and windows xp error see the music files in the folder on her drive? What happens if you try to copy just one file instead of the whole lot of them? m 0 l graywolf 17 April 2010 12:14:34 Quote:When you move the file to a new system and save it, you need to rename it with a different name before saving. That works a lot of times. Didn't the mod tell you to stop spreading your garbage? The name is totally irrelevant. m 0 l Related resources [Solved] Can\'t copy file: Access Denied.... I was hoping to get to my Windows 98 computer to see if ownership permissions work the same way as in XP. Win98 has been awhile ago for me. m 0 l graywolf 17 April 2010 14:14:34 There were no multiple users or Docs and Setting
