COM package was first exported from NT4 server machine and registered (running the exe) in XP with no problems.(Instalation OK and works OK)Then the server machine was changed from NT4 server to Windows 2000 server and the newer version of http://microsoft.public.platformsdk.complus-mts.narkive.com/etfW8AOF/error-registering-com-application-in-windows-xp the COM package was exported in W2K and run in the XP machine http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?370089-Error-1928-Error-registering-COM-application (msi package). The old application (which pointed to the NT server) was first removed from the add/remove panel in XP.When the new version (application proxy) is installed in the XP I got the error:Internal Error 2945. C:\Program Files\COMPlus Applications\{7DC98637-A766-45BF-95DF-0730C39D21C1}\APL1F.tmp, -2146368511Error 1928. Error registering COM+ Application. Contact your support personnel for more information.MSI (s) (54:B0): Product: myproduct windows xp (Application Proxy) -- Error 1928. Error registering COM+ Application. Contact your support personnel for more information. In the new version there are some changes compared with the older version so it is not exactly the same as the old one.The interesting think is that the same COM+ packet is installed OK in another XP using the same Windows 2000 server, but in the working XP there has not been register windows xp the earlier version of the application (using NT server). It looks like that when the COM+ is first installed using NT4 server and then using Windoes 2000 server the installed is not working any more.By the way the old COM+ packet is instelld still OK in the XP machine.Any ideas ?Could it be that the add/remove does not remove all it should ?RegardsJarmno Manuel 2004-01-12 10:24:45 UTC PermalinkRaw Message Hi Jermo,Try this:- Get your Application ID through the com console- Get the GUID of your dll's through OLE View- Save this ids.- Uninstall the MSI through add remove programs.- Open the registry (regedit.exe) and search for the idssaved above.- Delete those keys (back up registry Just in case) if youfind any- reboot- Install new MSIHope it helps,ManuelFirst check after uninstalling the MSI, if there are anyreferences in the registry to the old dll.Do-----Original Message-----Hi everybody,My problem is COM+ registering in Windows XP machine. The COM package was first exported from NT4 servermachine and registered (running the exe) in XP with noproblems.(Instalation OK and works OK)Then the server machine was changed from NT4 server toWindows 2000 server and the newer version of the COMpackage was exported in W2K and run in the XP machine (ms

Error registering COM+ application Hi! Little help needed... This is my environment: Server: Windows Server 2003 Client: Windows 2000 and Windows XP I've created and exported my msi package on the server for COM+ ver. 1.0 due to the backwards compatibility (win server 2003 has COM+ ver. 1.5). I installed it on the win2000 client and it works fine. Then when i tried to install it on the winXP client I get the error 'Error 1928. Error registering COM+ application. Contact your support personnel for more information'. I need this application proxy to work on both win2000 and winXP... It would be great if someone could give me some hints! thanks in advance! /Magnus Reply With Quote Nov 9th, 2005,12:31 PM #2 brucevde View Profile View Forum Posts PowerPoster Join Date Oct 2002 Location British Columbia Posts 9,758 Re: Error 1928.
