My password would not work (gave me the standard message about passwords needing to be checked), but if I entered NO password, it would appear to log on, bring up my desktop background . . . and then give me this dialog: Explorer.EXE - Application Error Th
not start at startup RECOMMENDED: Click here to fix Windows errors and improve system performance I have realized that corruption in the Windows registry can lead to all sorts of problems. Some windows explorer has stopped working windows 7 of you may have faced this problem, that after you logged on to shellexview your computer, you might have seen just a blank screen. No desktop, no Taskbar! This may happen because explorer.exe which 0xc0000022 is supposed to start-up automatically, did not start at all. While some registry error might have caused this issue, it is certainly possible the problem could be due to some virus infection http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/491753/xp-problems-with-logging-into-desktop-explorerexe-application-error/ too, which blocks the explorer.exe from running. In such situations where your Windows 7 | 8 or Windows Vista explorer.exe fails to start-up automatically on every boot, here are a few steps you can try out: Windows explorer.exe does not start 1) Start Windows in Safe Mode and see if your explorer.exe will start in safe mode. If it does, then obviously something is interfering with http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-explorer-exe-does-not-start its normal start in regular mode. I suggest you scan for malware in safe mode, remove infections if any and reboot. Also check if any add-ons may be interfering with its starting up. Often, 3rd-party shell extensions can cause Explorer to crash on particular actions. Several programs add items to the right-click context menu. To see them in detail, you may download the freeware utility ShellExView. More here. In the RHS Pane, ensure that the default string value of : Shell is explorer.exe. Double-click this value. Make sure only ‘explorer.exe‘ is given the value of Shell. If you see anything else there, simply delete it and leave only ‘explorer.exe' . Exit the Registry Editor. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect. After I click it, some times it freezes my system for ever while other times it goes away and I go about my internet surfing.. but this happens every time I start up my system which has happened for over 1 yr already.. I'm fed up with it The thing is I've never used IE browser as I hate it, all these yrs I've used FireFox but IE browser is installed in my system. I also get the same "Explorer.Exe application error" when I open "SOME" (not all) folders on my desktop AND all the files within that folder.I have done cleaning, virus scan, registry clean up, etc etc etc a gazillion times with a gazillion softwares in the past and recently and everything works perfect, except for this annoying error that never goes away.. I'm avoiding to have to restore my old system in order to get rid of this error and hopefully that's not the only fix so please geeks, put your heads together and come up with a solution to my problem, SI? I cannot open task manager because I try but I get error message that says task manager was disabled by administrator. I have to click ok. Then I get the same problem. I cannot do a system restore because I cannot go back past the last time I tried to do it, which was two days ago. There are no more available days to restore to. Symptoms: When I boot my pc, it comes up fine, with all the regular icons on the desktop and programs appear to be running, but then my desktop icons, and all files I might be trying to click on close down in a flash. Then they re-apear again, just to do it all over again. I managed to get to the run function to run regedit. That's as far as I want to go because I don't know where to go in regedit to find the culpret infected file to delete it. I try to run virus scan with Mcaffee, but nothing is found. Question: Is there anywhere that I might look to find the culpret file in the regedit editor? From what I have managed to find on the Net, it involves the explorer.exe file and I don't know what to do to get to this infection, and I do not, under any circumstances, want to re-install my OS just to get rid of it. I have no back-up for all my files, I know I am a fool for not backing up my files daily, but what is done is done. Can I fix this? The pc is rendered useless without the fix or re-install. Can't I just find the infected file, delete it, and then re-establish my explorer.exe file
