Holding the Sync button + eject gives the sequence 1 light, 4 lights, 2 lights, 1 light. Has anyone here fixed this semi-reliably, i.e. without overheating it? People say that error is due to a faulty ethernet port, yet they suggest "wrapping it in a towel", "putting it in the oven" or "stopping the fans with cocktail sticks"... how exactly is that supposed to fix a faulty ethernet port? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Just trying to get a few more weeks/months out of it until I move house and get a new one. Thanks in advance. 1 person likes this
 Adbot 1337 Our Sponsors Neowin Treasury 1337 Advertising Place your ad here Loading... It's the dumbest thing anyone could do (and I've said that to someone on here that's said it as advice before..) At least you get it too :p. @mistical has fixed several RRoD, E74

Share March 13, 2016 A classic console that casual http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/xbox-360-one-red-light-error-code-e73.698760/ and hardcore gamers have adored for years, the Xbox 360 enchants all ages with its huge selection of games, including classics like the Halo, Fable, and Gears of War franchises. Millions of these consoles are regularly played in living rooms across the country, and they typically work fine. On occasion, however, Xbox 360s xbox 360 can run into technical difficulties. One of the most dreaded errors in the Xbox 360 lexicon, the E73 results from a few different malfunctions. Near all are repairable, and many go through an involved process of troubleshooting to resolve the error. Resolvable it is, however, with a bit of patience and technical knowhow. Gather All Necessary Supplies The E73 error results from a slew of different reasons, e73 error message but near all pertain to hardware. Because Microsoft manufactured it as a self-contained unit, cracking into the case can get messy. It is possible though, and anyone with an eye for detail and a bit of fine muscle coordination can accomplish the task. First and foremost, a heat gun is very important. Many try soldering guns instead, but these work best for larger chips and lack the accuracy that someone repairing an Xbox 360 requires. Along with the heat gun, make sure to have solder and flux. Be particularly selective when choosing the latter, as there are numerous types of flux and some can be irreparably damaging. While not necessarily all-important, flux does add serious strength and flexibility to any new solder during the reflow process. While it may be a tad more inconvenient and messy, make sure to keep with liquid no-clean flux. Plenty of other types are easier to apply, like paste and clean-type fluxes. These leave a mean residue, however, which is really hard to clean off and can mess with the 360's chipsets. An air cleaner is also a good idea. While most malfunctions result from weak lining or accidental thumps, there are cases where overhe

If you watch this video he demonstrates a ghetto fix similar to the towel trick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67sbmlJ2_ek There are other videos like this with all the same/similar techniques for fixing the e73 error. Now should you do this to an xbox? Absolutely not, you can damage it worse than it already is. How should you go about fixing this error? There are a few people on afterdawn that have solder rework/reflow machines. It looks like all you need to do is get your mb reflowed and it will fix this error. If i were you i would start a new thread asking who has these machines and who can perform a reflow for you. X-clamps works if done correctly my oldest repair is 9 months and it still hasnt come back, apart from a firmware update stuartbat, Jul 27, 2009 #5 zoooool Member Joined: Jul 24, 2009 Messages: 6 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 thanks for the input c4rn1 stuarbat and homesick i have just been told that error code e73 is the ethernet port and is unfixable it must be replaced can anyone confirm this ms wont tell and if its true where can you get one or if its false anyone know how to fix it zoooool, Jul 27, 2009
