I have tried opening it up giving it some air letting it cool down and nothing seems to

The system is only shutting off to prevent a fried chip. If that isn't the case then it could be a short circuit somewhere, but that'd be a complete guess. Check traces with a multimeter to make sure everything is fine. If you have too, just pay the money to send it to MS and extend your warranty a year. I opened my 360 and it started screwing up and I thought I fried it but with reassembling it completely it started working. Personally I had a slim that the south bridge needed to be reflowed, and I have one now that sometimes shorts out somehow and gives red dot but then works perfectly fine most of the time.
