Solution When utilizing the Backup Exec System Recovery Manager (BESRM), a client computer may display a status of "Not reporting", generate an error "Unable to Retrieve Information", or not display in the BESRM console at all. Typically the 502 errors are network related due to a proxy configuration or blocked ports which cause the Management Control to fail when publishing to the BESRM. Perform the following steps to manually publish: 1) Goto the client machine that is not reporting correctly 2) Run SERVICES.MSC and ensure the Backup Exec System Recovery service is started 3) Open a command prompt and attempt to ping the BESRM server by name and IP Address. If ping is unsuccessful, then network issues exist. 4) Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery\Manager\Management Control and run PublisherUI.exe Note: If the PublisherUI.exe does not run, uninstall and reinstall the component. If the publishing status is failed, then attempt to change the Web Service Address to use an IP Address instead of machine name. 5) If publishing continues to fail, ensure the port shown in step 4 is open. By default, the Management Control publishes on port 8443. Ensure firewall

software. What is a 502 Proxy Error? A 502 proxy error is typically thrown in the HTTP cycle. When the error occurs, a server (does not have to be a Web https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000034678 server) is filling a role similar to a proxy or a gateway server. When a client computer sends an HTTP request (typically a web browser, but can be any software application that is capable of making an HTTP request), it will pass through the server in order to obtain access to the desired URL. The proxy or gateway subsequently receives a http://www.tech-faq.com/502-proxy-error.html 502 error, or invalid response, from the server located “upstream” in the attempt to fulfill the client request. The majority of the time the error is thrown, the upstream server is functioning appropriately. The proxy or gateway and upstream servers just cannot agree on the appropriate protocol for exchanging the information requested in the original client HTTP request. In many of these cases, either the proxy or upstream server are not configured correctly or are running incompatible software. Why Does a 502 Proxy Error Get Thrown? During a typical web browsing session, the following is an example of the classic HTTP cycle when a client computer and web server are communicating: Client Computer: The IP address of the desired website will be obtained from the URL of the site from the DNS server. Client Computer: The computer obtains an IP socket connection to the desired IP address and then sends an HTTP data stream through the IP address. Web Server: HTTP data is sent back to the client computer in response to the original HTTP request. The HTTP response will inc

Updated: July 20, 2016 Comments: 1 What does 502 Bad Gateway mean? A 502 Bad Gateway indicates that the edge server (server acting as a proxy) was not able to get a valid or any response from the origin server (also called upstream server). KeyCDN returns a 500 Origin Not Reachable if a 502 Bad Gateway occurred. What does 502 Bad Gateway mean? What are the reasons for 502 Bad Gateway responses? Domain name not resolvable: The domain name is not resolving to the correct IP or it does not resolve to any IP. It is important to note that DNS changes could take same time until they are global fully propagated and active. This is very dependant on the DNS TTL defined per record. Origin server down: The server is not reachable, either because it is down or there is no connectivity to the server given. Firewall blocks request: A firewall blocks the communication between the edge servers and the origin server. This can also be caused by
