Smartphones Fun Stuff Search site How to Fix Internet Explorer has Encountered a Problem and Needs to Close Have you ever http://www.online-tech-tips.com/internet-explorer-tips/how-to-fix-internet-explorer-has-encountered-a-problem-and-needs-to-close/ been browsing the Internet using IE happily until all of a sudden you get this horrid "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message, after which http://www.verycomputer.com/416_cc4eb15c77917370_1.htm IE completely shuts down and you lose all of your tabs along with any forms you might have been filling out? Now that I use Chrome religiously, this has not happened a problem to me even once, but it happened all the time with Internet Explorer. So for those poor souls still using older versions of IE, here's a quick list of steps you can take to try and fix the underlying problem. The cause of this error can be any number of things, so you may have to try a few different methods before encountered a problem the problem is fixed. If you click on the link to see the data the error report contains, you may see something like this: Error sign AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer. 7.0.5730.11 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 61eb77e0 So what can you do if you get this error? Try each one of the following steps and see if the problem goes away. Method 1 Open IE, go to Tools, Internet Options or click on the Settings gear icon at the top right and then clear out the temporary Internet files. Under Browsing History, click the Delete button and then check Temporary Internet files and website files. In case you downloaded an executable file that is causing the problem, this will remove it. Method 2 In some versions of IE, script debugging can be the cause for this issue. You can try disabling script debugging by going to Internet Options again, clicking on the Advanced tab and then checking the Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer) and Disable Script Debugging (Other) boxes. Method 3 Run anti-spyware and anti-virus software on the computer. Download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and Spybot and run each

If I restart the computer the same message reappears. If I do not close the message I can carry on working. What should I do? Top Explorer has caused an error in 8272807082 by Chuc » Mon, 24 May 2004 10:40:36 I'd first try deleting the contents of the temporary internet files folder(s). Normally you would use IE to do this via Tools Internet options Delete cookies and Delete files boxes. 8272807082 TMP may represent a file name. If so, it might be possible to search for it and then delete it only. Top Explorer has caused an error in 8272807082 by Douglas Litt » Thu, 27 May 2004 17:11:45 Having similarly experienced the same issue on a friends machine, simply running MSCONFIG (start->run->msconfig) and unselecting the startup group fixed this. Didn't have time to find out which startup item was causing it though. Going through the startup tab and reselecting individual items after restarting your computer should allow you to pinpoint which item is causing the problem. Good Luck. Doug-L Top 1. IE 6 causes windows explorer: "Explorer has caused an error in unknown" After installing IE 6 on my Windows ME machine, I consistently get "Explorer has caused an error in unknown" when I open windows explorer and it crashes my machine. Yes, windows explorer and not IE. Being used to Microsoft products, I created a restore point in ME just before installing IE and can get back to a usable machine. This error is reproducible 100% of the time. I've seen lots of discussions related to the issue but nothing due directly to the install of IE 6. Anyone have any ideas other than waiting for SP2 of IE6? TIA C 2. Bookmarks 3. ERROR Message: Explorer has caused a error in
