The file is damaged and could not be repaired. adobe reader there was an error opening this document the file is damaged and cannot be repaired I am using Windows XP. I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling but this didn't work. I also tried repairing the installation - still no joy. I would be grateful for any help. (amal_ibrahim) Jan 25, 2008 6:41 AM (in response to (Tess_Beaumont)) I have the same problem. It was strange because I have the same version at work and it opened the very document which was supposedly damaged and couldn't be repaired. I unistalled the program and now having difficulty re-installing. I think it has to do with the windows installer but I don't know how to fix that. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. In the office I save the PDF file to the desktop (at work I have a license of Adobe Acrobat X Pro). With the file everything is OK, no problems. Then connect from home via Remote Desktop to the office computer and copy the file to my home PC. When I try to open a file it crashes with the error message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired". First I thought about the possible incompatibility between versions (at home I have Adobe Reader 9.5.5). But after several attempts found that the file actually spoils, and spoils it when copying from PC to PC. The fact is that during the transfer from one computer to another PDF file is slightly increased in size. So my file in 344 KB turned into a 352 KB. And it only happens with PDF files. Others are transferred and copied normally. PS: In my office I have Windows 7 Pro, home on the laptop - Windows XP Pro SP3. pdf file-transfer adobe-acrobat share|improve this question edited Aug 23 at 7:52 Burgi 2,1233929 asked May 13 '15 at 14:57 lesterholmes552 113 migrated from stackoverflow.com May 14 '15 at 7:17 This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers. add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted How you copy? Didn't look? In the properties of the RDP connection check Local resources/Devices/Still/disc/Disc, E, on your choice that at you in a remote desktop appeared your disk(s). Maybe so won't damage. share|improve this answer edited May 14 '15 at 13:56 Dave M 12.3k82436 answered May 14 '15 at 13:38 DonaldShelton 16 This is a workaround but doesn't explain the cause of the problem. –Karan May 14 '15 at 20:29 add a comment|
