When I create a new user, or reset an existing one's password, the procedure authentication token manipulation error debian is as follows:- User logs on- User gets prompted to change password- User is prompted to enter "Current" password- User is prompted to enter "New" password twiceAt this point the user is kicked http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/passwd-authentication-token-manipulation-error-cent-os-5-7-a-933650/ off and can log back on with their new credentials. The user gets this error, for some reason:Code: Select allpasswd: Authentication token manipulation error
It's not critical... The password is changed, and the user is still able to log on. I just want to get rid of this error. I've checked every log I can think of, but nothing jumps out. Has anyone else run into http://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=51556 this issue? Consequence: SSSD returned generic error code to passwd which resulted in "Authentication token manipulation error". This message confused user because it looks like a system error. Fix: When user mistype current password, SSSD prints additional message "Old password not accepted". Result: The output of password change now suggest that the current password was not accepted.
