Although I am positive of the password I am typing, I have decided to reset my root password. password issue Quote Postby cbraidwood » 2016/01/06 17:38:29 I have a new installation pwconv: cannot open /etc/passwd of CentOS 6.7 that's giving me heartburn. Root is able to change any password, but users can't change their own. pwconv cannot lock /etc/passwd I need to resolve this before we go live. I've come across a few suggestions to alter the permissions on the shadow file, or recreate the shadow file, but none of those have http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/passwd-authentication-token-manipulation-error-cent-os-5-7-a-933650/ worked.
