This is usually no problem for me. I use pdfLaTeX latex error file dvipdfm def not found in TeXworks. The only difference this time seems to be that I'm using the style files from the journal Statistical Science (http://www.e-publications.org/ims/support/sts-instructions.html). I've tried several solutions. This one and converting the pdf to .eps or .ps all make the error go away, but then there is just a big blank space where the image is supposed to be. Any ideas? Edit: Here is the preamble: \documentclass[dvips,sts]{imsart} \usepackage{graphicx} \usepackage{float} \begin{document} \begin{figure}[h!] \centering \includegraphics[width = \textwidth]{simLinkError.pdf} \caption{Blah} \label{fig:sim1} \end{figure} \end{document} graphics pdf texworks share|improve this question edited Jul 17 '13 at 14:02 egreg 514k5913792437 asked Jul 17 '13 at 3:38 zkurtz 208129 4 "Cannot determine size of graphic #1 (no Bounding Box)" error occour when we compile latex on a TeX file with non-eps images such as PDF/JPG/PNG etc. To fix this error: You need to run pdflatex on the TeX file. Otherwise you need to convert your image to EPS using convert and run latex on the TeX file. –Jagath Jul 17 '13 at 3:49 @JagathAR, as I mentioned, I am using pdfLaTeX on my TeX file. Is this different than pdflatex? –zkurtz Jul 17 '13 at 13

I get an error when I insert a picture from a pdf file. I get the error that bounding box cannot be determined. I looked at http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/149083/error-in-latex-no-bounding-box-on-pdf-figure other answers. Somebody suggested to compile pdfLatex instead of Latex, but on TexShop I do not see how to do it. I also tried to fix a bounding box on LaTeX, as in the following: \includegraphics[width=1\columnwidth][bb=0 0 100 100]{nameFileFigure} but it does not work. How can I solve this problem? graphics compiling texshop share|improve this question edited Dec 9 '13 at 5:05 doed 1,107721 asked Dec 7 '13 at 18:14 Faso migrated from stackoverflow.com Dec 9 '13 at 2:50 This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers. Dec 9 '13 at 2:53 At the top of the TeXShop Window, there are several dropdown menus. One of them (the second from the left) states “LaTeX” and can be changed to “pdflatexmk”. That's what you want to try, if you include a pdf. You could also change your PDF into an eps, if you really want t

LaTeX Error: Cannot determine size of graphic in tree.jpg (no BoundingBox). Why do I get this error ? What has this to do with an .eps file ? In fact, I could compile it fine with MacTex on my machine. But when I submit it online to a scientific journal for publication, it compiles it on the server and sends me the resultant PDF which has latex no bounding all these errors that prevent it from compiling. I am using the following syntax for including the images : \begin{figure}[!h] \begin{center} \scalebox{0.45}{ \includegraphics{tree.jpg}} \end{center} \caption{\small A sample} \label{tree} \end{figure} What should I do ? Could it be that their server is using an old compiler ? UPDATE : It finally worked. I converted the first image to PDF and the compilation happened perfectly. I guess it used the bounding box value from that PDF and applied it to all images. pdf latex eps share|improve this question edited May 3 '12 at 13:05 Mr Lister 25.1k85381 asked Apr 8 '09 at 21:29 euphoria83 5,596164862 closed as off-topic by Dave Jarvis, joran, Fraser, torazaburo, sandrstar Aug 13 '13 at 3:25 This question does not appear to be about programming within the scope defined in the help center. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question. 1 Are you using pdflatex? Cause latex only supports vector graphics (read: eps) –Stephan202 Apr 8 '09 at 21:36 1 For what it's worth, JPG is quite possibly the worst image format to use when you're going to print something (because of the quality degradation). In Latex EPS is best, PDF is a close second. –David Z Apr 8 '09 at 21:4
