UPM דף הבית / Knowledge Base / Error “Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file…” when using windows cannot access the specified device path or file while opening word Citrix UPM Created On: Oct 28, 2015 Author: Ziv Winner Symptoms User attempts to open excel or any other office document, as a result the following error appear: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2669244 The symptom described above may occur in XenApp or XenDesktop environments with a combination of UPM (User Profile Manager) component. Running a Procmon tool shows a "buffer overflow" result when excel (or add in in the case below) is trying to query the desktop folder. Cause After several investigations, the admin noticed that the "Desktop" http://www.smartx.co.il/?p=3917 folder does not exist at the user profile. This may occur if the Desktop folder is excluded from the profile list at the UPM exclusion folder. In addition, there is no folder redirection to the Desktop folder at the GPO. Resolution Configure Desktop folder redirection at GPO. Alternatively, remove the desktop from the folder exclusion list. To access the Exclusion list – directories in your Active Directory (AD) policy, follow the given path: Go to Active Directory group policies. Select Citrix from Administrative Templates available in Computer Configuration. Select Profile Management. Select File System to access Exclusion list - Directories. Tech Support Guy, we highly recommend that you visit our Guide for New Members. Solved: Cannot change Excel options Discussion in 'Business Applications' started by synlupri, Apr 16, 2007. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-cannot-change-excel-options.562855/ Advertisement synlupri Guest Thread Starter Joined: Mar 19, 2003 Messages: 99 Using Office XP Pro, with Windows XP. All updates and virus protection are current. Everytime I try to change any options in Excel (general, view, security, etc.) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/37868405/microsoft-excel-cannot-access-the-file-on-windows-server-2012 I get the following error message: "Cannot access directory F:/excel" Every so often when I need to autorecover something I get the following error msg: "Microsoft cannot save AutoRecover info to F:/excel. Please check the network connection or change cannot access the location on the Save tab of the Tools, Options dialog." When Excel was originally installed it was done from the server located on the F drive. Since then, the server has been changed and that drive has been deleted. Is there anyway to change the default location other than in Options? Because right now I'm caught in loop. Or, do I need to uninstall and reinstall the whole app? synlupri, Apr 16, 2007 #1 Sponsor windows cannot access synlupri Guest Thread Starter Joined: Mar 19, 2003 Messages: 99 Unistalled office and reinstalled completely. did not work. Still getting the error when I try to do anything in Options. Going to try creating a new profile now, because when I logged on as myself I was able to make changes. So perhaps could be a profile issue. synlupri, Apr 16, 2007 #2 synlupri Guest Thread Starter Joined: Mar 19, 2003 Messages: 99 Creating new profile worked. synlupri, Apr 16, 2007 #3 mpbyrne Joined: Apr 20, 2007 Messages: 1 I had the same proble but you can reset it in the registry current user\software\micosoft\office\excel\options mpbyrne, Apr 20, 2007 #4 synlupri Guest Thread Starter Joined: Mar 19, 2003 Messages: 99 Ahh good to know for future ref.
