PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class WP_Screen Upgrade to 4.5.2 get PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class WP_Screen Geoffd99 @geoffd99 3 months, 3 weeks ago Hi all Hope you can help, I did the upgrade to 4.5.2 and then - no admin to site, white screen (plus errors if debug on). woogang I have now put on debug to log file, there are warnings, the fatal error is woocommerce login this: [21-Jun-2016 14:14:51 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class WP_Screen in …/wp-admin/includes/screen.php on line 209 I have switched off all plugins inc woothemes askimet, except w3-total-cache since the website still works live, so don't want to mess up the cache. if this is the problem, is very risky to remove (or switch off) the cache and lose the site forever. At least it https://wordpress.org/support/topic/fatal-error-cannot-redeclare-class-wc_shipping_zones-in-homeupfrontrpublic_/ is still working. Previously: I had a white dashboard, only the left side menu showing for plugins, WP functions showed a white screen. I fixed this by a one line edit to screen.php (and was working fine). I have tried it now with original and edited screen.php version, same fatal error. I have tried replacing http.php with an older one (4.4) this has made no difference. Tips welcome! I am OK with a bit of coding. If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s). - If you can't get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (if you have created such folder). The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old. - switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Sixteen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins). If you don't have access to your admin area, use FTP , or your web-host's cPanel or whatever file management application your host provides (no Dashboard access required). Navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme's folder by adding "-old" to the end of the folder name. Alternately, you can remove other themes except the default theme. That will force your site to use it. - If all the above steps do not resolve the issue, then try MANUALLY updating. Comments Comment #1 tibbsa CreditAttribution: tibbsa commented February 27, 2013 at 6:10am I just spent an hour and a half trying to track this one down. It is related, I assume, to issues #958126: Extra class OAuthException Declaration?, #1334528: Fatal cannot redeclare class error: Cannot redeclare class OAuthException, #1498642: GAR install results in Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class OAuthException , and #1892612: Problem accessing Google Analytics Reports after installation, which all seem to suggest that the error stems from a conflict between the PHP "OAuth" extension and this module. From my research and my troubleshooting: Suggestion #1 is to disable the PHP OAuth module if possible. (Wasn't possible for me.) Suggestion #2 is to pull the latest development version which, for some classes (OAuthException), includes wrappers to prevent multiple declarations. (Didn't solve it for me: it shut up the OAuthException error, but then I began getting OAuthSignatureMethod_HMAC_SHA1 when attempting to delete a user account.) Suggestion #3 was to eradicate the entire OAuth module folder and reinstall fresh. That did the trick for me. Evidently if you've upgraded this module (simply by unpacking a new tarball over the existing files) a few times, "something" might be left behind that breaks things. I doubt it is worth the effort to determine exactly what that was, but try these steps and see i
