First, make sure you are inputting the IP address manually and not copy-pasting (to prevent special characters from sneaking in). Also, some routers will prevent you from connecting to the server using your external IP address so you'll just have to connect with the local IP (and everyone else trying to connect from inside your network) Rollback Post to Revision RollBack Minecraft Discussion Forum Admin || TeamSpeak: v.jefe.cc || Website: http://republicasmp.com WWMD? #3 Jun 17, 2012 Sartharion1223 Sartharion1223 View User Profile View Posts Send Message Tree Puncher Location: Kearney Join Date: 6/17/2012 Posts: 24 Minecraft: Sartharion1223 Member Details Quote from jefe323 It could be a couple things. In a networking context "Can't resolve..." usually translates to "Can't find the IP address for...". In your case BOINC can't find the IP address for "hostname" but error messages are frequently misleading. Those messages might actually mean "Can't resolve the project's URL". That usually means your computer has requested the IP address for one of your projects but the server that is supposed to have that address doesn't have it. That is not your computer's fault, it's an upstream problem you have no control over and it can come and go unpredictably. There is another possible explanation. I see you have two hosts attached to this project. It is possible to connect BOINC Manager running on host A to the BOINC Client on host B if they are both connected to your home network. There are two slightly different ways to do that: 1) supply host B's IP address to BOINC Manager running on host A 2) supply host B's hostname to BOINC manager running on host A Method 1 will never (should never) give you the "Can't resolve hostname" error because you are supplying the IP address not the hostname so nothing needs to be resolved. Method 2 will give you the "Can't resolve hostname" error if you have failed to add a
