I initially had two problem - the System.Interactivity.dll could not be resolved. I installed Blend 4 SDK and that issue was fixed. Cannot resolve dependency to assembly 'System.Windows, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e' because it has not been preloaded. When using the ReflectionOnly APIs, dependent assemblies must be pre-loaded or loaded on demand through the ReflectionOnlyAssemblyResolve event. c# wpf silverlight share|improve this question asked Aug 31 '11 at 7:17 gprasant 6,19733048 I had kinda the same error in a solution once. I needed to build it again sometimes even twice before the error was gone. Maybe it works? –Mixxiphoid Aug 31 '11 at 7:20 1 Maybe doing a Build->Clean Solution could help too. –George Duckett Aug 31 '11 at 7:23 Do you have Silverlight installed? It's hard to say, but I think that might be the problem.... which is strange, becase poshconsole doesn't seem to require Silverlight. –Miguel Madero Jan 27 '12 at 15:09 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 17 down vote I have received this error message for another (non-GAC, custom) assembly. The project builds fine from Visual Studio, but when I try to compile it from the command line or from TeamCity I get the following build error: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.WinFX.targets(269,9): error MC1000: Unknown build error, 'Cannot resolve dependency to assembly 'Microsoft.Windows.Design.Extensibility, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKey Token=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' because it has not been preloaded. [C:\Work\MyProject\MyProject.sln] The linker seems to complain about Microsoft.Windows.Design.Extensibility.dll, but the project does not depend on this library. c# wpf visual-studio msbuild share|improve this question edited May 31 '11 at 18:17 Philip Hanson 1,35711122 asked Aug 4 '10 at 11:31 Amine Kerkeni 3521420 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 17 down vote accepted It is bombing trying to compile the XAML in the project. Ignore the remark about ReflectionOnlyAssemblyResolve event in the message, that's just it trying to be helpful to solve the problem. The real issue is that it simply cannot find the assembly. That's to be expected, Microsoft.Windows.Design.Extensibility is a Visual Studio assembly, stored in the Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies folder. It could only be found if that folder is in the probing path, it surely won't be if you run msbuild.exe from a build tool. Not sure what to recommend, you'll have to find out where that dependency comes from. That probably ought to start at the .xaml file content, search for the assembly name. Also verify that the problem reproduces when you run msbuild.exe from the Visual Studio Command Prompt. share|improve this answer answered Aug 4 '10 at 12:32 Hans Passant 655k819631608 2 It seems that the dependency comes from a third party library
