but due to the change to the certificate standards to no longersecure .local domains, I'm having abit of aproblem. certificate error outlook exchange 2013 My internal Exchange 2010 server name is servername.domain.local whereas the externally facing OWA is owa.domain.org. I previously had a UC certificate which had SANs for the servername.domain.local and autodiscover.domain.local however this doesn't seem

to be an option anymore for a domain validated UC certificate. When opening outlook I now get an error that the server name is differnent from that on the certificate (understandable as the SAN for the servername.domain.local isn't there). What I'm wondering is, is there any way to change the RPC Client Access Server parameter to servername.domain.org to prevent this error when opening Outlook? Alternatively, security certificate error outlook is there a way to bypass the SSL alert as I'd be willing to investigate this also. OWA is working fine as is Outlook once I have clicked Yes to continue past the SSL security warning. Thanks in advance. I used the EMC to change the URLs for all the other sites. Its the URLs you have defined for the HTTPS services that Outlook uses against the Exchange that are throwing the mismatch error. You need to set the URLs per this article to match the DNS and Cert subject names Outlook 2007 security warning: "The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the nam

It just one of those things that get on your nerves as much as it gets on your users nervers so was hoping Spiceworks Community can giving me a helping hand please? Every time we open Outlook 2010 (regardless of who the user is or which PC) we keep getting a Security Alert Certificate Pop up twice (please see attached, I have censored our server name for https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/278039-email-certificate-security-alert-everytime-opening-outlook-2010 security purposes). I have tried installed the certificate but it keeps coming back every hour or so or every time we restart Outlook. I have also checked the certificate is valid and is covered for purposes of: -ensures the identity of a remote computer -proves your identity to a remote computer -2.16.840.1.114413.1.7.23.1 (Do not know what this is!) Exchange Setup: We have 2 Exchange servers. Server A & Server B. Server A was initially where exchanged was installed (which was upgraded from Exchange 2003 to 2007 by my predecessor), there was an issue with accessing OWA on server A during the upgrade so he installed Exchange 2007 on Server B and OWA was working. All mailboxes are stored in Server B (this is starting to sound like an exam question now ha? :) Any ideas? My mail is hosted on a shared hosting setup and not my own, dedicated server. The certificate issued by the server is self-signed. I am fine with that and I am completely aware that it is self-signed. However, Outlook issues a warning about the certificate each time it opens. I have certificate error outlook tried installing the certificate, as Matthew Williams suggests in his answer, but this does not result in the warning being dismissed. Making Outlook trust your certificates specifically, as the answer below suggests, is a much better idea. –grawity Jan 24 '14 at 13:27 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote You can install the certificate so it's allowed without issue. Within the security dialogue box click view certificate then install certificate. If you require assistance when setting up the certificate Microsoft provide a nice guide you can follow. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2006728 Hope that helps. share|improve this answer answered Jan 24 '14 at 11:25 Matthew Williams 3,66281532 Thanks, Matthew. Assigned services, reconfigured all URL's for external and internal access to be identical (previous cert was a SAN cert with .local domain names and since they are no longer available we are having to change this), setup split DNS so internal and external clients all use the same DNS name for access. Everything works as expected, with the exception of Outlook clients receiving a mismatch certificate error... it appears the server is presenting the server.domain.local FQDN to the client and with the SSL being *.domain.com it doesn't match... I have followed all guides/articles I found ensuring that all URL's are setup properly and all point to the same external DNS name. Autodiscover internally also works and passes (we do not have it setup to autodiscover externally but Outlook anywhere does function as it should when manually configured, this has been tested) What has me perplexed with this issue is that newly created profiles/accounts do not have this issue so it seems to be more of an Outlook profile issue rather than a server issue. I can open Outlook and use my previously configured profile and I get the SSL mismatch error.. If I create a new Outlook profile and setup my account within it, there are no SSL errors at all. Not certain if anyone has come across this before or not but any advice/help would be greatly appr
