click on the padlock that appears in the address bar and then select view certificate. On IE11 the padlock does not appear. The particular problem I'm having is that I'm trying to diagnose why Windows https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/931850 8.1 with IE11 is rejecting a perfectly valid cert. All I get is a screen telling me that there is a problem with the certificate (it says that the cert is revoked)but no details and I can't figure out how to view the details. As I known, if a lock icon does not appear in the Address bar, the connection is not secure and you should not enter personal or financial information. You can also view the details of an SSL certificate in Internet options-->Content-->Certificates. Or open Certificate Manager by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, typing certmgr.msc into the search box, and then pressing Enter. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. This problem may occur if the client computer's clock is set so that the date/time is later than the expiry date of the webs SSL certificate. To get rid of the error, you can self-signed certificate for a secured website in Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps: 1. In Explorer Options, add the URL to your trusted sites. Exit Explorer. 2. In Windows Internet Explorer, click Continue to this website (not recommended). A red Address Bar and a certificate warning appear. 3. Click the Certificate Error button to open the information window. 4. Click View Certificates, and then click Install Certificate. 5. On the warning message that appears, click Yes to install the certificate and place it in your trusted certificates au

IE first gave me a 404 error. Evidently, you cannot control root certifying authorities in IE like you can in Opera and Firefox? This expired cert for the wrong site is from GoDaddy. I always set GoDaddy (and all Comodo related) as Untrusted and my other browsers then warn me that a site is using a cert from GoDaddy (orComodo authorities) and ask me what to do. I did this with IE8 and the result was that I got a 404 error which has NOTHING to do with UNtrusting a root certfying authority. So, I trusted GoDaddy certs. Then I did the test again. This time IE refused to go to the site which was the correct thing to do but it did not give me a 404 error. Instead, it complained that the cert was expired and for the wrong site. Ok. that is what it should do. However, IE gave me only two alternatives: don't go to the site or override and go there. Where is the CORRECT alternative which is to let me examine the cert and then decide what to do? · actions · 2010-Jul-30 7:28 am · Damon85Premium Memberjoin:2004-12-25Cincinnati, OH Damon85 Premium Member 2010-Jul-30
