synchronise email using Exchange ActiveSync. The affected mobile phones run the Nokia "Mail for Exchange" ActiveSync client. The symptoms are as follows: · During a synchronisation attempt, the phone prompts the user with a warning "Website has sent an untrusted certificate. Accept anyway?". The user is then prompted for one of two options: o "Accept this time only" nokia e71 certificate error contact the application supplier o "Accept permanently" · If the user chooses the option to "Accept this time only" email is synchronised. The user will be prompted with the certificate warning again during the next sync. · If the user chooses the option to "Accept permanently" email is not synchronised. Instead the user receives a "System Error. Try again later" message. Not all Nokia phones are affected. Some are synchronising normally after the SP1 upgrade. No obvious pattern regarding versions, mailbox location, etc. iPhones are unaffected. The certificate is a valid Digicert UM SAN cert and was not changed as part of the upgrade to SP1. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot further? Tony Friday, November 05, 2010 3:41 AM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote hi can you check on the affected nokia, for certificates, try deleting existing server certificate from it (atleast it should if user has previously clicked that permanently option), after that access exchange again and then "accept permanently" button starts to work again. We are running a Windows SBS 2003 Std SP2 server. I am trying to configure a user's Nokia E52 Mail for Exchange profile, but I can't seem to discover the magic combination of correct settings for the mailbox. Being a default SBS installation, our Outlook Web Access is hosted at http://sbs.oursite.com/exchange/. The connectivity test for ActiveSync (manual server) at https://testexchangeconnectivity.com passed successfully with it set to ignore trust for http://serverfault.com/questions/258696/configuring-nokia-mail-for-exchange-with-sbs-2003 SSL. (We only have a self-generated SSL certificate). Outlook Web Access works 100% as well. What do I need to put in Nokia Mail for Exchange for my server name? Is it sbs.oursite.com, or sbs.oursite.com\exchange (like OWA), or sbs.oursite.com\oma for Outlook Mobile Access, or something else? Does the server name need an http or https prefix? I've tried practically all combinations I can think of without success. Worst of all, I do not receive any error messages. All I have is an empty mailbox on the phone, which shows an icon as if it is connected - but connected whatever settings I put in for the server! Has anyone got this working before? Why is it so tricky? Another user has a Blackberry: all that you need to do is tell it your OWA address, username and password; and it just works. Contact a support person or your service provider. Error code: 80072F0D This error can occur when the root certificate authority that generated the SSL certificate being used by the Exchange server is not trusted by the Windows Phone device. This will commonly occur with Exchange servers that are still configured to use a self-signed certificate, or that have a certificate issued from a private CA. There are a basically two ways to resolve this issue. Install an SSL Certificate from a Trusted Certificate Authority If you install an SSL certificate from a certificate authority that is already trusted by the Windows Phone device you will avoid this error when you're configuring the device for ActiveSync. You'll also avoid certificate related errors for other service such as Outlook Web App and AutoDiscover. I generally go with Digicert for Exchange SSL certificates, however you can choose another provider if you wish. Microsoft has published this list of certificate authorities that are trusted by Windows Phone (PDF). Install the Root Certificate on the Windows Phone Device If you can't, or won't, acquire an SSL certificate from a trusted CA then you can also install the root certificate onto your Windows Phone device so that SSL certificates from that CA will work. This is fine for test lab or training scenarios but I do not recommend it for production environments. If you've used a private CA to issue your certificate you can download the root certificate from the web enrolment page on the CA. Download the CA certificate in DER format to your computer. Next you need to get the certificate onto the Windows Phone device. You can do this in two ways: Host the certificate file o
