must update the InternalURLs, ExternalURLs, and AutodiscoverServiceInternalURI to match the certificate FQDN. This specific issue is a bit different. This issue is that when you are trying to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/940726 make a connection to Autodiscover via https://autodiscover.domain.com, the Outlook client does not successfully make a connection to it and you get a certificate error. The certificate you see pop up in Outlook during the error isn't even the certificate that is located on Exchange. The certificate error that pops up shows you that it is http://www.shudnow.net/2013/07/26/outlook-certificate-error-and-autodiscover-domain-com-not-working/ finding the certificate on your company's public website. So the million dollar question? Why the error and why is it showing the company's public website's certificate. Well first, let's explore a little on the steps External Autodiscover goes through in order to find Exchange. Internal Autodiscover and the Service Connection Point The Autodiscover service is a mechanism that can do several things. Automatic Mailbox Creation Redirects Outlook 2007/2010/2013 clients to point to the correct server in which their mailbox is located Provides URLs to Web Services for Outlook 2007/2010/2013 When you first launch your Outlook client (Outlook 2007 or above required for Autodiscover access), it will search Active Directory for a Service Connection Point (SCP) record. Every time a CAS Server is installed, it will register this SCP record within Active Directory in the following location: CN=Autodiscover,CN=Protocols,CN=

No credit card required We would like to welcome our new esteemed author Jaap Wesselius to our team of authors as he presents his first article to MSExchange.org certificate error readers! In this article, we will take a deep dive into the Autodiscover feature in Exchange 2007/2010. If you would like to read the next part in this article series please go to Exchange Autodiscover (Part 2). Introduction When Microsoft released Exchange Server 2007, one of the new features it included was Autodiscover. Autodiscover allows you to automatically configure Outlook 2007 clients, but, there is a lot more behind the autodiscover certificate error Autodiscover functionality. When you have issues with the Out-of-Office or Free/Busy information in Outlook 2007 in combination with Exchange Server 2007 (or Outlook 2010 and Exchange Server 2010) it is likely that it is caused by a misconfiguration in the Autodiscover configuration. To make things more complex, the SSL certificates are involved here as well. Note:The Autodiscover process for Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007 is practically the same as for Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010. In this article I will use Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010. Autodiscover information is stored in a so called SCP or Service Connection Point. You can view this SCP using Active Directory Sites and Services after you have enabled the “View Services Node” option: Figure 1: The Service Connection Point of the Client Access Server in Active Directory When installing the Client Access Server (Autodiscover is part of this Server Role) the SCP is automatically created in Active Directory and configured with the default values. If you have multiple CAS Servers there will be multiple SCP’s as well. When Outlook 2007 is installed on a domain joined workstation then the Outlook client will query Active Directory for the Autodiscover information. Active Directory will return a list of SCP’s and the Outlook client wil
Availability Migration You are here: Home / Outlook 2007 clients display certificate mismatch error after mailbox migrationOutlook 2007 clients display certificate mismatch error after mailbox migration February 27, 2009 by Paul Cunningham 8 Comments When an Outlook 2007 user has their mailbox migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 they may start seeing a certificate mismatch error appear when launching Outlook. This problem will occur if the following conditions are true: the internal DNS namespace does not match the external DNS namespace (eg domain.local for internal and domain.com.au for external) a third party SSL certificate matching the external namespace has been applied to the IIS instance on the Client Access Server (eg cas.domain.com.au) The certificate mismatch occurs because the Autodiscover Service and/or Availability Service use the FQDN of the Exchange 2007 host in their URL (eg https://server.domain.local/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml) but the IIS instance has an SSL certificate that does not match that name. To resolve this issue you can change the URL of the Autodiscover and Availablity services to match the name on the certificate, which you can do with the following shell commands. [PS] C:\>Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity cas.domain.local -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri https://cas.domain.com.au/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml [PS] C:\>Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "EWS (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://cas.domain.com.au/EWS/Exchange.asmx -ExternalUrl https://cas.domain.com.au/EWS/Exchange.asmx As long as your internal clients are resolving the external name cas.domain.com.au directly to your Client Access Server this should resolve the certificate mismatch error.
