This is window's attempt to stop attack vectors for viruses/mal-ware from infecting your computer and has blocked out the .chm file that draw data over the "InfoTech" protocol, which this chm file uses. Microsoft's summary of the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896054 Solutions If you are using Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, windows has created a quick fix. Right click the chm file, and you will get the "yourfile.chm Properties" dialog box, at the bottom, a button called "Unblock" appears. Click Unblock and press OK, and try to open the chm file again, it works correctly. This option is not available for earlier versions

to 2008.06c and updated the help files (english), and now I am getting "address is not valid" on ALL the links in the help file (which was working before). Since I only tried to access the help http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11438634/opening-a-chm-file-produces-navigation-to-the-webpage-was-canceled file recently, I don't know if the error has anything to do with the updates. Paths Info says: Freecommander.ini C:\Program Files\FreeCommander\FreeCommander.ini Application Data: C:\Program Files\FreeCommander Do you have any suggestions of what I can try? I tried redoing the update for the program as well as the help file, but that didn't fix it. Thanks so much! It fixed my problem! My FC help file used to work before... Sounds like one of the internet explorer updates caused it to go. But HHReg fixed it. If others have this same help file problem, just download this utility, and add the help file by pointing to its location (C:\program files\freecommander\FreeCommander.chm). Thank you so much. Viewing the same file under XP works fine. Anyone else experiencing problems viewing RH chm file not 6.0-generated .chm files under Vista? As I indicated in my post, I'm aware that RH6 is not compatible w/ Vista. However, the application's incompatibility w/ Vista doesn't necessarily mean that the resulting files produced from RH6 under a different OS (e.g., XP) won't work under Vista. This is what I'm trying to get more info on: are RH6 generated .chm files (produced in my case in the XP environment) working for folks under Vista? They're not working for me (topic pane doesn't resolve---see my original post for er
