needed to know if he should get a copy for my mother's computer which currently runs Windows XP. She uses it for work primarily and because of that, uses the Cisco VPN client. I have a number of computers running the cisco vpn client error 2738 windows 7 Windows 7 RC so I decided it would be a good idea to test out cisco vpn client error 2738 xp the client before I told him if he should get one for her computer. I extracted the setup and then tried to run

the installer and that's where the problems started. An error came up when the installer progress bar was half way: Internal Error 2738 A lot of good that does, right? Well, a quick google search and a link

later, we get a solution: Run a command prompt in administrator mode (Start/All Programs/Accessories/ right click on Command Prompt, select Run As Administrator) type: cd %systemroot%\system32 type: regsvr32 vbscript.dll That website said this fix was for installing on Windows Vista. I ran through those instructions (I did this when installing some Adobe software for a friend) but it didn't help. When I ran the installer again, it still threw the same error. I repeated everything multiple cisco vpn client fix for windows 8 times, restarted even but still, no dice. The second solution (and this too) that I found was the bullseye. The idea is that if you need to register the vbscript.dll, you need to unregister it first. It doesn't seem as easy as the registering method, but it really isn't hard if you copy and paste. If you have these scripting engines registered under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, you need to make sure that you remove that registration and re-register them under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. You can use the following steps to unregister them from HKEY_CURRENT_USER: Click on the Start menu, choose Run, type cmd and click OK To unregister the VBScript engine, run this command: reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}" /f To unregister the JScript engine, run this command: reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{F414C260-6AC0-11CF-B6D1-00AA00BBBB58}" /f When you run the code above through the command prompt as an admininstrator, it should say it was successful. For #3 though, I didn't need it as I wasn't using JScript, so keep in mind that if you haven't registered it already, it won't be successful. (I set the command in bold; copy and paste that.) Once you do all of that, go back and run the regsvr32 method again. That should do it. We're getting a couple pre-ordered copies of Windows 7 and my mother is going to make the big switch between XP and 7. Good luck with Windows and

I tried http://2xdizzy.blogspot.com/2010/07/cisco-vpn-internal-error-2738-on.html several compatibility settings (Vista, XP SP2, Vista SP1) with no luck. I found some hints to register VBScript.DLL ( regsvr32 VBScript.DLL in system32 with admin privileges) but this doesn't help. Any further suggestions? cisco vpn Windows 7 x64 - Gigabyte EP-45-DS3 (Intel P45 chip set), 4GB RAM, ATI 4670 Wednesday, May 27, 2009 3:37 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Were you able to resolve this issue?-Matt Proposed as answer by mattburrMicrosoft employee, Moderator Tuesday, October 06, 2009 1:44 PM Marked as answer by mattburrMicrosoft employee, Moderator Friday, October 09, 2009 8:31 PM Friday, October 02, 2009 8:52 cisco vpn client PM Reply | Quote Moderator All replies 0 Sign in to vote What is the softwapre package you're trying to install? Tuesday, June 02, 2009 11:47 PM Reply | Quote Moderator 0 Sign in to vote It's a collection of software for business start-ups. The installer was made with InstallShield. Unfortunately I got no answer on my support request.Windows 7 x64 RC1 - Gigabyte EP-45-DS3 (Intel P45 chip set), 4GB RAM, ATI 4670 Thursday, June 04, 2009 4:42 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote I get the same error when trying to install cisco vpn client 5.0.5.0290. It installed ok on one machine, but continously fails with 'Internal error 2738' on another machine; both were upgraded from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 32-bit. The proposed solution (elsewhere) about registering vbscript.dll does not work for me. Mini 2140 running on Windows 7 proof to be tough. Taking almost half of my day to resolved this.First problem, VPN just refused to install due to HP Mini 2140 screen resolution. This can be resolved by using InstED It program ( http://www.instedit.com/download.html ) to modify the Cisco VPN installer. Install InstED, find "screen resolution". Edit the 800 x 600 resolution to 1024 x 576. Save & run the installer.Second was the Internal Error 2738 message. These works for me (thanks to the power of Net).Run Command Prompt using Administrator mode.Paste this command:reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8} /fOnce the command succcesfully executed, paste this :reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{F414C260-6AC0-11CF-B6D1-00AA00BBBB58} /fOnce the command sucessfully executed, paste this :regsvr32 vbscript.dll Labels: Windows 7 | 8 Responses Christian Says: 31/8/10 7:53 AM Thanks man, you have saved my day!
