If you see “Secure VPN connection terminated locally by the client. Reason 412″ it means that the software VPN client detected that the VPN server isn’t responding and has deleted the connection. Cisco VPN error 412 – What Causes it? The following are the main causes of a VPN 412 error: You’re behind a firewall that’s blocking ports UDP 4500/500 and/or ESP. The VPN client is using connecting on TCP and the default TCP port 10000 for NAT-T is blocked. Your internet connection isn’t stable and some packets aren’t reaching the concentrator/server or the replies from the server/concentrator aren’t getting to the client. The VPN client is behind a NAT device and the VPN server doesn’t have NAT-T enabled. If this is the case, you won’t be able to send or receive traffic. It will connect, but then nothing. After some time the software client deletes the VPN tunnel. VPN error 412 Possible solutions To fix the problem, try the following: If you are using wireless, try to connect with cable. Turn your firewall off, then test the connection to see whether the problem still occurs.

It's a typical set up, using an RSA SecureID soft token, and I'm successfully able to connect through VPN Client (v 5.0.07.0440) when I run it within a VirtualBox instance (Win 7) on my cisco vpn client development workstation. However, when I run VPN Client directly on the development workstation's OS itself (also Win 7), it has been failing, and gives me Authentication Error 413. That error is normally attributed to bad credentials having been entered, and every troubleshooting reference I've found points to user error being the only possible cause. Yet I'm certain that's not the issue here, as I can easily prove to myself when using the VPN Client on the VM and changing nothing else. I'm at a loss as to what that relevant difference is between the two environments. Any guidance would be appreciated. Log from VPN Client follows. I'm having a weird problem. I use Cisco VPN to connect to my work server from home, with an RSA SecurID.I can connect using my MacBook Pro without an issue--which connects wirelessly to my AEBS network. The laptop is assigned an IP via DHCP (if it matters).I cannot connect with my Mac Pro at all--which is connected to the AEBS with an Ethernet cable. The Mac Pro has a fixed IP assigned through the AEBS, outside of the DHCP range. Once in a blue moon, the VPN will connect. This is a log of the connection attempt:Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.9.01 (0080)Copyright (C) 1998-2006 Cisco Systems, Inc.
