and Other Interesting Information... Cisco: VPN Client 414 connection terminated? Posted by Ivan Versluis / July 15, 2008 / 3 Comments Recently I was troubleshooting a Cisco VPN client issue. Cisco VPN client version 4.0.5 is installed on a Windows XP secure vpn connection terminated locally by the client reason 412 windows 7 SP2 client with most recent Windows Security updates. After I installed and configured the VPN client cisco vpn windows 10 I experienced some problems with it. A GPO was configured to enable the Windows Firewall when not connected to Active Directory domain and block cisco vpn client traffic. VPN Client: Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 414: Failed to establish a TCP connection. VPN connection was set for TCP tunneling on port 10000. I changed tunneling to UPD but got same result as with https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11277686/cisco-vpn-version-50070440-failed-connection TCP tunneling. I googled and found one KB article from Microsoft.
Update to permit the Cisco VPN Client program to work in TCP transport mode in Windows XP SP2 After you install a pre-release version of Windows XP SP2, if you configure Cisco VPN Client version 4.0.3.D to use Internet Protocol security (IPSec) over TCP, you receive the following error message when you try to connect to a Cisco VPN concentrator: Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason http://www.networknet.nl/apps/wp/archives/459 414: Failed to establish a TCP connection. This problem occurs because the TCP/IP protocol is changed to drop any packets that are directed to the loopback IP address, but that arrive on an interface other than the loopback interface. Because the Cisco VPN client sends packets to the loopback IP address, but the packet comes from a physical interface, the packets are dropped. I reviewed Windows Firewall configuration and indeed it was enabled. I stopped the windows firewall with "cmd /k sc stop sharedaccess" and than I tried to reconnect again. The connection worked I had connection to my office network. After reading the KB article and stopping the firewall I realized we forgot to add the Cisco VPN client exception in the Active Directory GPO. Solved Cisco VPN Client Connection to Concentrator-Reason 414:Failed to Establish a TCP connections Posted on 2006-10-06 VPN 1 Verified Solution 11 Comments 66,149 Views Last Modified: 2011-08-18 Hello, I have been connecting to a VPN concentrator for the past two years cisco vpn with my old pc. I received a new Dell D820 and have only had it successfully connect once. When I try to connect, after a few seconds I get the error, "Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 414: Failed to establish a TCP connection. Connection terminated on:..." I am convinced that it is a problem with my computer because many other employees are able to connect just fine, including another computer that I have cisco vpn error at home that is behind the same linksys router. Detailed Troubleshooting Info: I have tried reinstalling the VPN Client about 5 times. 4 Times with an older version of the client and the last time with the most recent version that I could find on the cisco website(Version 4.8.01.0300). I found alot on the internet about the VPN Client needing certain ports open on the personal computers firewall....So, I tried opening those ports to no avail. I am running windows XP SP2 and I even turned of the built-in firewall completely to see if that would make a difference. I also tried setting the mtu to 576 and 1300 incase there were problems with that. I have included the VPN Client log below and am willing to lookup any further information that you may need to answer this question. In the logs, I have changed the DNS of the VPN concentrator to vpn.mydomain.com and have changed the IP of the concentrator to
