Cayenne melloyellow Feb 11, 2013 at 09:05pm I really wish I had seen this how-to last friday. I had a support call that ended up being about 4 hours total, and this was one of the bigger issues that came up during that nightmare. Regardless, thanks for posting! I'll know where to go next time. Chipotle MJReno Feb 15, 2013 at 11:16pm This is pro. Thanks for writing. Cayenne Breakingcustom Mar 20, 2013 at 04:46pm I've had to end-users had this happen to them. I've tired about every step imaginable and still nothing. The one machine I just reimaged it. When I go to Diagnose it, I don't get the option to reset the connection. It says no problems were found. The only way it resets is by going into the IPv4 properties and changing to Auto for the IP and then diagnose it again. Really need to get our ASA upgraded so we can use AnyConnect. 2011 Information Technology Among all computers I have installed Cisco VPN Client, my Windows 7 is the only one that had the problem connecting to the remote VPN server. I kept getting this Reason 442 message telling the connection terminated locally by the client pretty much every time when I wanted to use it. Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the client. Reason 442: Failed to enable Virtual Adapter It was really annoying because if I wanted to use it at home I would have to fire up one of my Virtual machine and use the VPN client from there. I always thought it might just be my computer that has got too many things loaded and didn't want to cooperate with Cisco until I found the fix today. And the fix was so easy that I wondered how come I never thought about it. It was all Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service‘s fault. If you had this same problem as mine, simply: 1. Stop Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service; 2. Stop and disable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Service; 3. Restart Cisco System, Inc. VPN Service. Launch VPN Client again, and the problem is gone. Note that I am running Cisco Systems VPN Client version 5.0.07.0290 on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit edition.
