Ok i just go this board 2 days agao and cant seem to get it up and running. I took my time to make sure that everything was hooked up properly and all. My problem is when starting the computer up i get "CMOS checksum error Defaults loaded" It wount let me get into the BIOS or anything its kind of stuck at this. It asks to "insert systemdisc and press enter" Im kind of new at building computers and all, but what is that (sytemdisc)? Well i downloaded the updated drivers for the board and tried to put those in floppy hoping that would do something.... Nope says detecting floppy drive A media.... What why is it looking for media from the a drive? Hope someone can give me some advice other than having to RMA it. If i have to oh well. I guess. Don't RMA it yet. If you're getting "CMOS checksum error" you're already past the point where you enter the bios. Restart it and hold down the delete key before it finishes counting the ram. "Insert system disk" means it hasn't found a boot device. Again, go into the bios and set whatever you're booting from, usually a cd these days, as the first boot device. Even though you set a 2nd and 3rd device, motherboards will often hang on the f

New A7N8X-E 1.01 Checksum Error Help! I'm building a new machine http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?374637-SOLVED!!-New-A7N8X-E-1-01-Checksum-Error-Help! with a new A7N8X-E Rev 1.01 motherboard, a previously used by me 1700+, a previously used by me Kingston HyperX PC3200 512MB memory, and a previously used by me MX440 video card. The error that I get on the POST screen is "CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded", and the message at the bottom then says "Press F1 to continue, DEL to enter setup". If I continue it appears to work, but it won't POST after reboot. If I go into setup, all of the settings appear to be correct for my hardware, but upon rebooting, it won't POST. After searching this forum and reading a lot of posts, here is what I tried: First I tried resetting the "RTC" CMOS jumper. Same error. Then I tried reflashing the BIOS to all of the following versions: C18E1013.BIN 1012-E.BIN C18E1011.BIN C18E1008.BIN C18E1007.BIN C18E1006.BIN (all downloaded from http://www.asus.com/support/download...eluxe&Type=All and click on BIOS tab to see all versions that I tried) They all appeared to load properly but they all yielded the same Checksum error message. Every time I reflashed the BIOS, the initial POST screen (with the checksum error) did list the proper BIOS number that I had just flashed to. I did try resetting the CMOS with the RTC jumper after each flash. I ev

I have my system overclocked. It is Prime95 stable (tested for 12+ hours). My Corsair PC3200 Twin-X 2 x 512 MB RAM is running at 200 MHz @2.7V. The memory timings are stock ... 6-3-3-2T, I think. I've tried upping the voltage but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't always get this error when booting up, however. It happes randomly. Any ideas? A BIOS checksum error means that actual code in the BIOS is corrupted. This could be due to actual physical damage to the BIOS chip, or a bad flash. I would first set everything back to stock, and re-flash the BIOS. Reboot and see what happens. If that doesn't fix it, the BIOS chip itself is probably damaged. I haven't tried setting it back to an official BIOS and then flashing it again though. What's odd i

POST report is ok once I tell it there is no Floppy drive attached and not to seek it. The boot sequence starts then just as get to load windows safe mode options whole PC shuts down. BIOS is reset to defaults again. I've checked the battery and jumpers. Tried a known working battery. Changed Graphics card, changed memory, changed HD to one without an OS. Disconnected DVD drive. PSU is known to be ok. IN BIOS CPU is recognised correctly and memory is also recognised ok. So is it likely to be a bad motherboard or corrupted BIOS or something else? Do you only boot your system by switching on the AC power to it? Does this also occur after you power down from the OS or by pressing your power button for > 4 seconds causing the system to go into "Soft Off" or ACPI S5 mode? Is the time reset each time you have invalid CMOS checksum? The reason I'm asking is because the VBAT power connection is typically powered by an on board regulator when the system is p
