Anyways, this is the shizhit: everytime I change anything in the mobo's bios (even just the clock) the system wont post and after a CMOS reset, it says the usual "CMOS Checksum error - defaults loaded". I even tried getting into the bios, DO NOTHING and "save & exit", even that f**ked things up..., if I just put the default settings or just don't save anything in the bios its fine... Now, IMO the battery is just fine. my friend and I checked it with a voltage meter and it still shows full 3v like it says on top of it. That battery used to run my older NF7-S just fine with no bios crap, so it's fine I guess (unless both mobos doesn't use same battery). Flashed the bios to newest one (07/2006 lol), messed around with all the board connections, checked PSU connections, disconnected some drives to see if that's the problem... nothing. I just want to tweak the bios and fix some booting stuff, and disable some useless bios settings, maybe OC a bit the mofo

On the first startup http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?399406-A8N-SLi-Premium-Bios-Checksum-Error I got a bios checksum error. I had this problem once on a older asus motherboard and ended up flashing it again and it fixed it. The problem is I can't get this board to flash the bios. I copied the awdflash program onto a 3.5 floppy disk along with the 1005 bios version which is what the board had to begin with. When I start it up it gives me an error that says it can't find awdflash.exe I tried just putting the cd in. It finds awdflash.exe and says its starting it but it never goes into the flash program. I can't figure this out for anything. Anyone else had this problem? It's pretty fool-proof. You probably need to direct "AwdFlashxxx /?" for command-line switches help if you like playin with DOS. Sounds like you've got the "pathes" screwy. BTW new Bios... ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIO...m/1008sp01.zip "As a Pantheist Omnivore, I realize it's a god eat god world." There are no brains behind evolution...shit just happens. Everything seemed to be fine but when we turned off the power of the surge protector, the cmos resets to the default. :confused It POST itself and go to the Windows desktop but whenever we shut the power off via the power switch, CMOS resets itself with CMOS checksum error message at the POST screen. We tried resetting the BIOS by taking cmos checksum out the battery and clearing the CMOS via the jumper and that did not work. BIOS is not the problem because it's up to date. Memory is not the problem because we replaced my pc 3200 DDR memory with my brother's and the result was same. :cry What would be the cause of this? My father is computer illiterate so we want the computer to cmos checksum error be as simple and user friendly as possible. I have almost the same machine, A8N-E. I would change the battery as that mobo of yours is getting old. Your 5.02 BIOS is from 2006 and CMOS batteries usually only last some 3 years without power. Get a replacement( $3) and see how it goes. Let us know what happens eh? CR2302, you can get it almost anywhere that sells electronics. Last edite
