Took out the battery, changed the jumper to slot 2-3 for 10 seconds then back to 1-2 and rebooted. First I was greeted with the same loader screen, but when I hit delete I got the BIOS details page that states at the top Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG After it lists my IDE and SATA drives it says "CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded." Pressing F1 to continue does nothing and DEL does not let me enter setup. I'm stuck on that screen, so what now? If so, put your support disc in and boot it and see if there is an option to boot into dos. If it does you should be able to reinstall the BIOS from there. OK, last week my http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/579450-ASUS-M2N32-SLI-Deluxe-AMD-6400-Updated-BIOS-to-2101-from-0903-only-black-screen-Yu computer failed to boot, the HD LED came on, the Power LED didn't and all the fans started spinning. Holding the power button turned it off. I checked for loose connections but found nothing so I reset the CMOS. This time it booted with the message CMOS checksum error, loaded from defaults (or similar), I hit F1 as instructed cmos checksum and it continued to load windows. All was well for a time, with the computer quite happy to boot as normal but today the same thing happened. Specs are as follows: Mobo: ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (not overclocked) RAM: 2*2GB OCZ 667MHz DDR2 GPU: 8800GT 512MB PSU: 600W FSP Group Running Vista Home Premium, though that should make no difference. This was a custom build by a company called cmos checksum error PCSpecialist 2 years ago but the RAM, CPU and GPU I have put in since as upgrades. Does anyone know what might cause this? I don't want to have to reset my CMOS on a weekly basis and I am worried that it is a symptom of something worse to come. I have probably missed something in this question let me know if there is information you need. Cheers Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top Baconbit Posts: 4 This post has been reported. I would try replacing the CMOS battery with a fresh one. Then see if it happens again. Usually if you loose settings in CMOS it's because of a dead battery. I did think that, but surely that would only make it revert to the default settings rather than make it not get to the POST? Can't hurt to order a new battery though I suppose. So I downloaded the latest BIOS 2101, backuped 0903 and use the latest Asus Update utility (v.7.1304) to update the BIOS in Windows XP. Everything seems to work fine: the BIOS was successfully flushed, updated and CHECKSUM went ok and the computer asked for a reboot. So I did, and then all I was staring at was a black screen, no BIOS screen and since I don't have case speaker, no post to tell. Can anyone give me some advices on what I should do next? This is the first time I update the BIOS (in after thought, I should have updated the video card and other devices drivers first). I read from the user manual that I might be able to restore the BIOS from the MB Support Disk. I also read from some forums that I might be able to get the computer to boot by resetting the CMOS. So my questions are: 1. Can you let me know what I should do? 2. What is the best BIOS version for 6400 CPU? Below is my computer's configuration (laundry list): * ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard * AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADX6400CZWOF * Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case * Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB ATX V2.2 500W Power Supply * Zalman CNPS9700LED Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler * Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRA
