I installed a new keyboard - a Logitech G510 After the installation of the new cmos checksum error defaults loaded solution keyboard the wake from sleep functionality was not working right - the keyboard would no longer wake the computer. After tweaking settings in Windows 7 I still had no results. So I moved on to the bios settings. I changed on of the settings related to the wake from S3 and rebooted. That is when the following error occured. Heres the problem, when I boot the system, it auto detects everthing fine, and then hangs at CMOS checksum bad press f1 for setup or f2 to load default value. Everytime I change the BIOS it keeps reverting back to this error. When I change the Boot order to CD first, I get the same error. I cannot get into the recovery or install program, just the BIOS. I have tried installing a new battery - reseting the BIOS via Jumper - Disconecting everything but one SSD and a CD drive. Still cant boot from CD and bios keeps reverting back to factory settings (my changes will not save, only the clock settings.) Any Ideas whats going on here? Hi there people! Again, abusing you with cmos checksum some doubts... basically, I replced my old CR2032 MoBo battery in my desktop with a new one, 4-5 weeks ago, more or less, the old one was dying (date not being displayed correctly)... but recently, 2 days ago, I had a power down (light went off... god damm CFE) and then a fast light return-off... fortunately, I use a regulator, so if it doesn't get enough power to enable power on for my devices, they won't turn on... cmos checksum error After that, 2 days after, I'm getting this nasty error when loading my PC... saying that CMOS checksum is bad, default configurations are loaded... also says something about the processor speed incorrect, but that is corrected when "defaults loaded", at least I suppose that. I need to be sure that my MoBo is not dying (PLS NOOOO!!! ) My devices are recognized properly and I don't get any OS problems so far... Thanks in advance for your help people See ya!!! all is good, but when this goes wrong a Checksum Error is born. Checksum Error Symptoms A Checksum Error will occur at startup most of the time however, it can occasionally happen at a time of normal computing. When a Checksum Error does occur there is a large pop up message that alerts you to the problem. If left unchecked for too long, further symptoms could include an inability to startup your PC properly. Checksum Error Causes The most common cause of a Checksum Error is a faulty battery. When this is the case, the motherboard of your PC is not being adequately supplied the power it needs to startup properly. Of course, it could also be that your PC has a virus problem or that your PC’s registry is corrupt and cluttered. Fixing a Checksum Error Fixing a Checksum Error needs to be done right away so the problem doesn’t intensify. You should first have your battery checked and make sure it is not going bad. If it is, you will have to replace it. This is not a typical battery so be careful when locating and checking it. If the battery is okay then you will want to immediately run a virus scan: Steps: Start your PC in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key during boot up. Double-click the anti-virus software icon on your desktop or tool tray. Select to scan the entire PC. Delete any and all viruses found. Restart your computer for changes to go into place and see if the problem persists.
