Cannot continue after bug check. I get the error "Internal gds software consistency check. Cannot continue after bug check." when I repair firebird database try to run a query; what does it mean? It probably means your database is corrupt. How the database got corrupted cannot be determined from the error. There are various ways a database can be corrupted. try. Run database validation using either IBConsole or gfix. For more information look at the InterBase Operations Guide pages 132-133, and 140-143. Try backing up and restoring your database. For more information on backing up and restoring your database, see InterBase Operations Guide chapter 7. Identify all of the tables involved in the operation causing the "software consistency check" error message. Drop all of the indices on those tables, then recreate all of the indices. For more information on dropping and creating indices, see the InterBase Data Definition Guide pages 123-127. If all else fails, restore from backups and hope fervently that the backup is not also corrupt. the problem could range from harmless things like inability to read old record versions (not needed to anyone anyway) or broken http://www.firebirdfaq.org/faq226/ indexes (could harm your queries and primary/foreign key constraints) to corrupt data. Reasons for this can be various, from bad RAM module in the server, malfuncion of hard https://groups.google.com/d/topic/borland.public.interbase.general/7FcwGQAepeo disk drive, to bug in filesystem or in Firebird engine. It's a common consequence of power failure and forced writes being off at the same time. Also, there consistency check are known cases when suspend to disk/hibernate messes up the filesystem cache for the database file. In any case, make sure you stop the server, make a copy of database file and do all the diagnostics on the copy. GFIX can help you fix some of the errors and get database to a state where you can internal gds software back it up. After checking for hardware problems, you should visit the appropriate mailing list (see FAQ #65) and present the problem you have (especially the contents of your firebird.log file).
