Try to make every page on your site reachable from at least one static text link. In general, minimize the number of redirects needed to follow a link from one page to another. Check your redirects point to the right pages! Sometimes we discover redirects that point to themselves (resulting in a loop error) or to invalid URLs. Don’t include redirected URLs in your Sitemaps. Keep your URLs as short as possible. Make sure you aren’t automatically appending information (such as session IDs) to your redirect URLs. (Although these specifics are no longer listed, as described more below.) Server Connectivity - The errors include things like network unreachable, no response, connection refused, and connection reset. (These specifics are also no longer listed.) Robots.txt Fetch - These errors are specific to the robots.txt file. If Googlebot receives a server error when trying to access this file, they have no way of knowing if a robots.txt file exists, and if so, what pages it blocks, so they stop the crawl until they no longer get an error when attempting to fetch it. In this process I'm using the "change address" function in Google Webmaster Tools on my old-domain.com, "switching" it to / choosing my verified new-domain.com. In Step 2 of this process, Google Webmaster Tools will check whether 301 redirect is setup properly on old-domain.com... And it fails... Translated to English it says: "Could not find any 301-redirect directives". I've setup the 301 redirect on my old-domain.com in the .htaccess - and no other content is in the file than this: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^old-domain.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://new-domain.dom/$1 [R=301,L] Am I missing something?
